Hello. I am a 19 year old college kid who is sick of acne. I have been popping my zits for awhile and i know that it's bad but I just can't stand to see them on my face. No matter what medicine I use I just cna't get them to go away. Also there is a zit inside my zip. Yes inside my lip. I have had this zit there on and off for the last year or so. when it comes back i usually find some way to cut the tip of my lip so I can try and get it out. It goes away for a week or two but then it's back. I can't stand it. I don't know what to do. Do you ahve any suggestions on how I can get rid of the zit inside my lip and also what can I do to start to clear up my face for good. I am sick of acne. I am nineteen. this shouldn't happen anymore

i'm also 19 and know what ur going through. first i would recommend getting a good soap like aveeno they have a acne bar and wash twice daily, but that can become harsh so try dove sensitive if aveeno becomes rough or just choose which one u would like to use. i've only tried one medication for my acne and thats clindamycin topical and that works for me. your just rub it on the problem spots twice daily and by the next day there almost gone. u need a prescription for that, but thats the only advice i could give, just hang in there! hope i helped take care

Mark,
Oh my, when you said that you are nineteen, and this shouldn't happen anymore, you gave me a good laugh.

When I was in high school I had acne. I washed my face with soap and water, and used Clearasil. My parents couldn't afford to send me to a dermatologist.

When I was in college, I still had acne on my face, plus I had some on my back too. I kept hoping that as soon as the stress let up that it would clear up.

When I started working fulltime, the stress got even worse. My sister-in-law told me that she had dated a guy whose father was a dermatologist, and said that the best thing to do for acne was to wash twice a day with a mild soap. It didn't do much for me.

When I was thirty, I found out that my aunt, who was in her sixties, STILL had oily skin. Great, it runs in the family.

When I was in my early forties, I started using Pond's Age Defying Lotion. Within a week the pimples and whiteheads cleared up. It has a mild acid that helps the top layer of dead cells slough off, and keeps the pores open.

A four ounce bottle costs about $12 at the drugstore. This is a cheap solution, compared with going to a dermatologist. There are many good acne products that you can try. Or you can go to a dermatologist.

The high level of testosterone in your body can cause the acne, so you may be stuck with it for a while.

The pimple inside your lip might be due to herpes virus. Don't cut it open anymore, and see a doctor about it. There are products available that can shrink it.

Hi,Mark.

I would suggest you are on the wrong website. It seems to me that you are still at the stage of "taking something" for your acne rather than where this 'site is: "doing something" about your acne.

If you think you are ready to DO something about your acne, go to the glossary and the archives till you think you are beginning to understand what you will have to do to get rid of this scourge.

Let us know what you learn.

Walt

You could stop eating refined carbs, processed foods, and all the other stuff I know teens eat. Stop drinking soda, don't eat as much bread anymore. Drink water, exercise more. Do some yoga. Try not to use TOO MANY products on your face. The chemicals sometimes irritate more than help. Try to think about what good things you might want to do for your body in general so that it stops trying to warn you by those alarming red zits you get on your face.

Also 19 is still pretty early age. Your hormones probably just need some time to calm down and balance out.
