Accutane Story

I started getting acne/pimples around the age of 25. For the next 6 years it kept getting progressivly worse. To the point where I had painful lumps under my skin.. I lost the confidence in my appearance and the acne caused me great stress when I had to be out in the public's eye.

After going through many treatments/medications/over the counter products, my dermatologist finally recommended Accutane for me.

I had tried everything. Including changing my diet, yoga, etc.. My acne was just not clearing up.

Upon taking the accutane, my skin for the next few weeks seemed to be getting worse. My lips dried out, my nose cracked inside and bled, my joints hurt. but I hung in there.. About the 5th week was when I noticed the difference.. My skin started getting a beautiful appearance to it.. Fresh healthy skin with a nice glow.. The whole texture and feel of it changed.. Each week that passed I had less and less acne..

By the second months end not only was the Painful lumps gone, but most of the breakouts were gone as well..

Through out my treatment. I suffered mild side effects which consisted of: Dry lips, Dry nose which caused bleeding, pain in the joints, dry eyes, dry hair and skin. But it wasn't anything to bad that I couldn't live with..

I really am quite happy to have taken the accutane and with it's results..

Now there is no guarentee that my clear skin will last forever.. but there is no guarentee with anything is there.

Plus at my age (32) the odds are with me that my skin will now stay clear.

So I just wanted to include my testimony on this site that accutane may not be for everyone, but it IS for some!

Thanks, Shelly.

Please let us know how you are doing in a few years.

What about the atatement that the very worst thing that can happen is that the accutane will work without any side effects? Now you can conveniently ignore the little red light on your dashboard that the accutane put black tape over.
