Ampicillin

Ok, So I was taking ampicillin off and on the last year, and just moved out of country. My acne really flared up becuase I was out of the ampicillin, but then I found 12 500mg capsules left and took those for 6 days. I noticed that the infections of my acne had disappeared, but then flared back up again when I got a new prescription. I am taking it now again, and have been for the last 7 days, and I am still getting some infected acne! I am just curious first of all if it takes a while(maybe just curing up acne i already had), or if there is a problem with it now... anyways, When i am on the medication, I think what I am experiencing is hives. How i describe the feeling is really itchy and dry feeling skin, and it starts to become really painful. If this is hives, should I stop my ampicillin treatment?

Thx,
CJH

Hi, CJH.

This should be saying to you what most of us know already: antibiotics are temporary fixes for acne at best. Now you are experiencing a hypersentitivity to this wonderful antibiotic so you will not be able to use it for other potentially life threatening conditions in your future. You (and your doc) have wasted a perfectly good antibiotic for no benefit other than temporary acne relief.

My advice would be to stop it at once since every day you take it the more chance there is for the hypersensitivity to get much worse. You need to be sure everyone knows that you are sensitive to it. Most people would even wear a bracelet sayijng that for those who might not know you.

When you are ready to get rid of your acne go to the acne archives and let us know how you do.

Walt

Thanks for the advice walt. I looked through all your stuff, and was trying to actually find the damned link to where it actually tells you how to do SR. the only site link I could find was the Amazon.com link, and a buy my book message. However, I think I told you that I was having a hypersensitive reaction(hives) which I now know isn't what I have been experiencing. I looked up hives in medical dictionaries, and hives are accompanied by red rashed on the skin. All I get is itchy skin, prolly well, because I been washing it. I think your SR is *potentially* helpful, but come on, something medical needs to be done here. I believe telling people to try your SR treatment is not only promising them a false cure, but also delaying them from getting the treatment they need. My liscened dermatologist prescribed Ampicillin and Klaron lotion to me, and it works.

Thanks, CJH.

Just read Dr Pelletier's book about "MInd as Healer, Mind as Slayer" and you will better understand the scientific basis for WHY this works as it does.

Careful about making statements without even the basest of understanding. This book was written 20 years ago and a LOT more substantiating research has been done since.

Let us know what you learn.

By the way, CJH, I really do not understand how you could have missed the skilled relaxation (SR) archives or even the article on the home page. Both clearly state that the Relaxation Workbook is the ideal way to learn SR without any expense other than your effort. The book is available from your lending library!

Always go to the glossary for any unfamiliar terms.

Let us know what you learn.

Go to the glossary, and look up SR. Before it gets into the definition/discussion of SR, there are 2 links to web-sites that show you relaxation techniques. One is titled "SR technique web site", and the next is "Another great SR technique web site".
