Hi Everyone-
A week of weird discoveries!
I'm having a weird problem with the B5 for acne. I was at 8g per day last week. Skin was looking only OK, but improved.
Here's something curious and probably pertinent- A colleague of mine who always stocks Dove Dark chocolate in her desk was sick most of the week last week. So, quite incidently, I had NO chocolate last week, where I usually have 1 or 2 small mini pieces a day (it's my only vice, I even stay away from wheat, alcohol, diary and sugar most of the time, so I figured chocolate probably wouldn't be enough to push my system into revolt. Or maybe not. Read on). My skin is crystal clear- and it happened over the course of about 3 days. It's still clear now, which is even weirder because...
I've had to stop the B5 as a test for something unrelated. Around the same time last week that my skin started to clear up, I started my second menstrual period of the month. Not normal. I have had an IUD for about a year now and am doing pretty well with it. Until last week, my 2nd week on the B5. The bleeding was heavy. HEAVY. Heavier than ever before in my life. Saw my ob/gyn over the weekend, who was at a loss to explain it. The only X factor was the B5. So I stopped it Saturday to see what would happen. The bleeding decreased significantly and within about 12 hours. So I tried a 2g dose of B5 Sunday morning to see what would happen. Sure enough, I started bleeding heavily again. This is weird!
So, I still have some testing to do, but this could mean 2 things:
1. A bit of chocolate a day is absolutely enough to make my skin AWFUL. I have always been a believer in food affecting the skin, but I'm so good the rest of the time that I thought I could cheat a bit... you get the idea.
2. Not only did the B5 not make much of a difference (at least for me), but it is making my poor uterus bleed! Has anyone heard or read anything about B5 or other B vitamins increasing or causing menstrual flow?
A very interesting week! Let me know of any info you might have!
Cheers,
Cara
