Dr. Stoll: I have had chronic acne since childhood

It is however, located only on my buttocks. Dermatologists have given me creams and such, but they didn't help much, if any. Its strange because my sister has it also, and so do my daughters, eight and five yrs. old.

It is always there on me but the severity comes and goes. On my children its the same way, but on their skin it looks more like a rash than pimples, like mine.

We have tried different panty materials but that didn't help either.

please help, this has been a life time of embarrasment and I don't want this for my daughters!

Tracy,

What kind of docs have seen these rashes and made an independent diagnosis? OR has each doc taken the word of the previous docs? My guess is that your diagnosis is not correct. Start on the internet and look up dermatology for color photos of every diagnosis known to man. If you are not an internet person, go to your lending library and ask them to get you the best color atlas of dermatology available (or go to the local medical school library and ask for the same) and get to work finding your rash. At the medical school they will not let you take the book out so you will have to devour it there. Give yourself a whole day to do this.

At the lending library, they will likely have to order you a copy and because it will be a $200+ book, you may have a nominal fee for the service and wait a couple of weeks to get the book and then only be allowed to keep it for 2 weeks.

This COULD even be a case of genetically susceptible LGS causing excessively acidic, oily & clear, involuntary, liquid stool leakage causing skin irritation--something few docs would even think of.

This may not apply to you but I did a short stent in an eating disorders ward in a hospital. We had both obese and anorexic patients.

I noticed that the overweight population often had buttock skin outbreaks - (and in other areas also). Many listed it as a health concern on their intake forms. It is also seen in patients with addictions.

I asked the attending physician and never got an answer. I would be interested to know the answer to this if anyone knows.

I don't know if putting carrot juice on their buttocks will help or not, I don't know if it will penetrate the skin but carrots have anti-acne activity so you might have to eat it. I also don't know if any of these others will penetrate the skin so you could eat some of them as well.

You wouldn't think squeezing oranges or grapefruits and putting the juice on them would hurt, would you, might not help but who knows until they try it, or you could try it on yourself first.
