proactiv for acne treatment, anyone here tried it?

Posted by Carlos on January 26, 1999 at 20:07:08:

After hearing about many sad stories of Accutane on this board, i've become somewhat sceptic. However throughout the journies I read one post which discussed about the user using proactiv after accutane and it did wonders leaving no side effects and removing his accutane problems. Dr. Stoll, can you give me any round-about information about proactiv, and any side-effects you have heard. This also applies for anyone else reading this. Thank you all in advance

-Carlos

I purchased the Proactiv products and I am happy with them. My skin is clearer than it has been in years. The only drawback is that there are three things you have to use, morning and night and sometime the routine gets tedious. If you stop using it, your skin breaks out again. Over all, I have been very happy with it.

It didn't work for me, but in fairness, the people at Proactive did give me a full refund. My thought is this--why purchase $40-$50 worth of products when you can do skilled relaxation for free, and get many other benefits from it as well? If you follow Dr. Stoll's skilled relaxation advice, it will treat the problem, not put a bandaid on it as these lotions claim to do. Just another idea for you! Best of luck.

Hi, Carlos.

Even if the proactiv worked it would still onlly be "cutting the wires to the doorbell". I have no experience with it since MY expertise is getting rid of the causes. No one thinks that acne is a "proactiv deficiency" (grin).

I totally agree with you there! :o) It is most distressing to miss a washing and have your face break out again! I never had acne as a teenager, now at the age of 28, I have developed it on my cheeks just under my cheekbone, go figure! Well, I will just keep using my Proactiv till I get really good at the SR, which I still have not figured out how to manage with a 50 hr/wk job, a two and a half year old and two classes this semester! When I was in the army, I never wore makeup and I had no skin problems at all, maybe I should think about that.......:o)

Proactive is a MIRACLE to me. Tried everything for 10years, this is the only product that has worked.
