About to go on Accutane...Questions??

Dr. Stoll

My name is Scott and I am about to go on Accutane. I have been battling acne for about 5 years and none of the perscribed medicines I have been on have seemed to work. They have inclued Benzoyl Peroxide, Triaz, Differin, and the oral pill Dynacin. I was just wondering about how many reliable is Accutane in terms of percent, like does it cure about 75%? Also I was told that it does not work for all types of acne, is that ture also, I was wondering if there was any way you could tell me if you think it would work based on my past medicines.

Thanks so much
Scott

Hi Scott,

Before you go for the Accutane, please do 2 things:

1) Read ALL the acne archived posts, so you will understand what you might be getting into with Accutane

2) First try high dose B5 (pantothenic acid) - do some research to find the article that supports this therapy (might be archived by now, or may have to use search engine). I would never have believed it until I tried it, and WOW it works for me (and many others say the same thing). I take 5,000 mg per day, that's 5 grams, which is half the amount used in the study. Please try this, it may save you from going on Accutane. The results were very quick and dramatic.

If you can't find the article, please post again and I will search for it or R. may be more organized than I am and have a link handy!

Hi, Scott

The person you should be asking these questions is your doctor. He's the one prescribing accutane to you, and should be answering your questions.

Stop and dont do it. My daughter begged the doc for acutane she took it for 3 months. One year later a small white dot came up on her back it grew rapidly and was 12 inches in diameter over night. After a biopsy it was diagnosed as LS &E a rare autoimmune disease that attacks the connective tissue of the skin. Should it become sistemic it could kill her. She had to go on anti-malarial drugs for months to get her into remission. Her hair fellout and she has to have her eyes checked for blindness from the effects of the cure drug. The disease is Lichen Sclerosis ET Atrophicus and has no cure. At first we were told she had six months. It can attack the face or genitals destroyed the layer of tissue beneath the skin. She cannot weatr a bathing suit and cries all the time. I know the accutane did i. Please dont take it. Try Pro active solution works great!
