My Experience with Accutaine- It's a Miracle!--Please Read!

Hi. Alot of u guys are sayin ur afraid to try accutaine cuz of its side effects and stuff. I was scared too! I didn't want to go on it but it was the last straw and now I'm glad I did. I had acne from 7th grade to 10th! That's a long time..no wonder I couldn't get guys. I'm now going into 11th grade and my acne is ALL GONE! Just like u guys, I tried EVERYTHING! Nothing worked! Not Proactiv, not benzoyl peroxide, no creams, nothing!
One day I came home hysterically crying after school. I looked at my disgusting face in the mirror and cried. It was really bad and not getting any better. So, my mom saw me like this and called up a brand new docor that moment! Thank God they could get me in for an appointment that night! I was really happy then cuz I couldn't take it anymore.
I went in and told the doctor I was sick and tired of this. He was the nicest and best doctor I've ever went to, and he sed, "If this was my daughter, I'd put her on Accutaine." So my mom agreed so I could finally be helped. She wasn't crazy about it at first after hearing lots of stories about side effects of this pill, but it was the last straw and I was going to be watched carefully by having blood tests every month to make sure it wasn't hurting me on the inside. (Something with the fats in my blood)If it did that to my blood, he would lower my dose and everything would be well and I could higher it again.
I sed I will definatly get blood tests...anything to clear up my face! They also constantly checked to make sure I wasn't pregnant..cuz it could damage ur baby. But I wasn't! Lol My mom told me if I ever felt depressed I have to let her know. But I was only getting happier, seeing my face get clearer and clearer! I started in January and was checked every month..and everything was going great. The only side effects I had was tiredness, which I didn't mind, and chapped lips and dryness. So, I put on chapstick every day and wore moisturizer. Easy as that! I didn't get any bad side effects at all, I was very lucky!
I was also on Otrocylclin or however u spell it, for my irregular periods. The doc wanted me to stay on it while I was on Accuatine so my periods would stay regular and I'd only break out a lil on my periods instead of like every few weeks breaking out on my irregular periods..no wonder I broke out alot.
I also had to drink alot of water cuz Accuatine makes u dried out a bit..just like ur dry skin(it dries out the pimples so there gone) . Eventually I wasn't as thirsty cuz I drank water everyday and brought water bottles to school.
These side effects were fine to deal with, pretty normal side effects for any medicine-fatige,dryness,and being thirsty. So I dealt with it and my acne started was almost all cleared up in about 2-3 months. Seems like a long time especially 6 months, but it was over in no time!
The doc had me on 20 mm at first and upped it to 40 in another month, and then 60 and then finally 80. It might be different doses for u of course. I stayed on 80 for my last month or so and I was done.
Sure, I have a few marks where u can tell I had acne before, but I haven't had a pimple since then! The marks will fade in time and the doc will help me with them. I just noticed the tinyest pimple near my eyebrow- but I could care less! It'll go away soon! And of course it's normal to break out on ur period, which I do, but It wont be as bad and they'll go away quickly and there will only be like 1 or 2 that break out. Better than like 3-5!
I got off Accuataine around May or June and it's July now. I haven't broken out since and my period is regular. It was a miracle pill and I'm finally happy! And my chapped lips stopped being chapped like a day after I got off Accuatine and so did my dry skin! I used to have oily skin and now I don't! Might I add..I had a boyfriend and I'm getting more guys. ;) lol Finally! Call ur dermatologist now! If u live in NJ, email me and I can recommend my doc to u if u live near me! GOOD LUCK! ;-)
P.S. I also had acne on my back and it went away with Accutaine within like a month or 2! My back is so clear and smooth! :)
P.P.S That tiny pimple I mentioned is gone...not a trace of it left. It went away within days. Now, I have no pimples whatsoever and haven't broken out since! NOT ONE PIMPLE!

I'm glad for you that accutaine helped with only minor side effects. For me the side effects were mild too, but now a year after being off it I still have very dry sensitive red skin that I never had before accutaine. Accutaine isn't good for everyone.

Hi, Paula.

The very worst side effect of accutane is when it works without complications. That only means that the person can put off dealing with the actual causes (which takes learning and work) until later in life when they have something more serious from those very causes. The bodymind will keep sending a louder message until it is heeded.

Putting black tape over the warning light on the dashboard does not make the problem go away. It only will pop up later when you are on a trip and you will be stranded.

Persistant acne is a warning.

Walt

Hi Paula.

Actually, Walt was referring to the fact that the stress-induced hormone imbalance causing your acne will show up as another symptom later in life. Accutane just treats the symptoms, not the cause of the acne.

Actually, this applies to persistent adult acne. You are a teenager and so the acne may eventually have gone away on its own when you entered adulthood and your hormone levels stabilized.

Of course the accutane itself is not without risk. See Roche's own web-site for side-effects (some permanent). Didn't you sign a consent form indicating risks?
