acne update and recommendations

hey everyone...

i'm not sure who from this past year and last still reads this, but for those of you that remember my posts about my skin, i'm happy to say i've finally found a breakthrough.

unfortunately, it has little to do with dr. stoll's 3 legs of wellness (whole foods diet/EFAs, SR, exercise). While I'm still supplementing with Flaxseed, Borage, Evening Primose, a veggie formulated multi vitamin, E, Zinc, Burdock, and Dandelion, I never really gave SR the shot it deserved, although I do relax almost to the point of SR when listening to my more mellow music. And my diet, well, I have (until recently) cut out hydrogenated oils, dairy, as much sugar as possible, caffeine, and soda.

I've been doing this since last summer, to very varying results. I'd have good weeks and terrible weeks. I finally figured out though, that for me my diet played a bigger factor than I originally thought. Spending a few days in Vegas indulging on their buffets clinched the deal for me that my body seems to give me acne as a result of poor digestion or toxin release.

So I started taking acidipholous (sp?) to aid in my digestion, and shortly thereafter (too quick to see if the acidiphilous was doing anything on its own) I started using an overnight acne product. I won't give the name here b/c I know how some feel about advertising brand names, and because it's most likely only helping the symptoms, not the cause, but I have NEVER seen a product clear up my skin so fast and so well than this.

Since you can't see me on here, I'll give you a description of what i looked like so you can see if you are as bad as me or not if you're thinking about going this way. Basically, i'd say i had about 30-40 zits and red marks on my face and neck area. I had anywhere from 5-10 medium to big zits, a few more smaller ones, and the rest were red scars/marks still healing from past zits. You know, the marks that you don't notice in the incandescent lights in the bathroom but SCREAM at you when you check out your skin in florescent light or the rear view mirror of your car (darn sunlight is very unforgiving).

Enough to make me disgusted, depressed, the usual story.

After about 4-5 days on this new product (and while sticking to the diet/supplement program) I would say I was down to about 20. Now I'm down to about 10-12, but I was actually lower than that last week. I recently got a few more, but I've also eaten doritos, chicken casear, hamburgers, pizza, beer....I'm kind of strange in that I have to test everything, so I'm trying to see how much a factor food is now that I'm using this.

My diet is still important, I now know.

But my skin is improved so much, in such a short time, that I'm nothing short of amazed. The obvious shortcoming to this is that the zits will probably come back if I stop applying this. My philosophy, though, is that I will be more mentally able to work on the cause of this problem (by doing SR and exercise) with the newfound confidence I have now that my face is under control.

As a final note, my background with acne has been: 3 seperate treatments of accutane; minocyclene; dixoycyclene; erythromyicin; differn; cetaphil; all the over the counter stuff you can buy; tea tree oil; zirh products (correct, protect, fix); egg yolk masks. I've been working on it for about 8 years. Like many others, my first accutane worked well, but the zits came back. Also like others, all the accutane messed up my mental systems and i'm still dealing with that. This overnight product is by far the best results i've ever seen and I've waited about 2 weeks to post this just to make sure it wasn't a quick fluke (although maybe in a month i'll recant everything! ;-) )

I wish everyone the best of luck in their search for an effective acne treatment and cure. Walt, if you don't mind me posting what this product is, I will do so. I swear I'm making no money here, maybe just some good karma.

Mike- it would be really helpful to me if you would post the name of this product, I have bad acne at the moment, and am dealing with candida/leaky gut issues but in the meantime it would GREATLY improve the quality of my life if I could find something that would AT LEAST reduce my acne. thanks

i think its ok to tell the product, people have named proactiv here, and names of supplements etc. by brand, so long as you're not selling, spamming

Congratulations, Mike.

MY way is NOT the ONLY way to help acne. It is, however (in my experience of 30 years practicing medicine) the only way for the highest % of people to have permanent results.

Let us know how you are doing in a year or so.

Walt
