Hi Missy - I read your posts from a couple days ago and brother can I ever relate to your situation. I have RA and was (as my dr. described it) just about 6 weeks from being committed to a wheelchair permanently before he started to prescribe methotrexate - which drugged me up enough to distract me from my symptoms, but didn't really help. I stayed on it for 3 years, started getting worse - threw the whole mainstream medical approach away and started to search the internet for solutions. I took ever kind of alternative med or supplement I could find, I did chinese medicine, ayuervedic medicine, I would have done the dance of the seven veils to get better, and sometimes certainthings would help, but they never sustained. I came upon this site, read about RA and learned of the e-diet and metabolic diet - tried it once, freaked out at the level of pain it initially induced, got braver, tried it again and voila - I am virtually pain and symptom free. That was almost 3 months ago. No back-sliding, only continual progress in reclaiming my life. I followed the Joseph Hackett website advice (which I saw others had recommended) and even the damage that had occured in my hands is slowly beginning to reverse. I still have aches and pains, they rise and subside, but they are less frequent and less present. Also, lst year I spent over $3,000 in supplements (I know because my vitamin supplier gives me a rebate at the end of the year based on my accumulated purchases). So far, in the past 3 months, I've spent less than $60. Every day I win. I don't know which protocol you will choose to follow, but I know there are answers on this site and people who can help you to solve your personal confrontation with this horrible condition, just as they did with me. I wish you great luck in your recovery - I was where you are just a short while ago. Don't give up.
