Numbness in pinkie finger on both hands

Posted by Hope on April 12, 2002 at 13:55:44:

For the last few years I have had both fingers go numb a great deal. I askd all the doctors I have seen and I get the same answer...Poor circulation. Never a test or anything. It has gotten so uncomfortable lately that I am starting to get worried. I do aerobics and walk at least 4 times a week so where does the poor circulation come in? Is this a sign of maybe diabetes or something like that? Also, this may not have anything to do with it, but when my father passed away in 97 the whole right side of my face was numb for a few days. I was told it was stress. What is your opinion? Thanks :)

Hi. I am not a doctor but I have experienced the same thing. I had headaches, light headedness and numbness in my fingers and arms and legs. Matter of fact I was unable to even drive for a year out of fear I would wreck and harm myself, my kids or someone else. I too went to see a doctor. I was told, migraines, axiety, fatigue, stress etc... I even had a MRI done.I have begun to notice that my numbness only comes when I am stressed (Kinda like a panic attack). But after I calm down it goes away. If it continues to worry you then I would suggest to keep seeking a doctor until you can finally feel better. Good luck and I hope you find your answer. Marie

If you think its stress, you should research Skilled Relaxation. Try doing SR twice a day for a few weeks
and see if you feel a difference in your body. Go to
www.brainsync.com Brainsync offers a free download
to listen to.

Hi, Hope.

Listen to Kim.

This is a neurological problem NOT a circulatory one!

The most likely cause is bracing of the neck and shoulder muscles which compresses your neck discs and presses on the C8 segment.

Look at any anatomy atlas (perhaps your docs slept through that particular lecture and missed it on the test) for the dermatomes.

MY guess would be that 6-12 months of serious SR would not only elimiate this problem but prevent a ruptured disc at that level if the problem persists without dealing with the cause.

Let us know what you learn and how you do. See the glossary for any unfamiliar terms.

Walt
