MY HUSBAND HAD A FUSION OF C3&4 13 YEARS AGO. SURGERY WAS
GREAT. ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEMS, NOT EVEN FROM THE HIP WHERE
THEY TOOK THE BONE. AUGUST 2000, HE UNDERWENT SURGERY AGAIN, THIS TIME C4&5, METAL PLATE. NO IMPROVEMENT, PAIN
WORSE, LOOSING MORE FEELING IN HANDS,FEET, AND BICEP AREA.
GOES FOR SURGERY AGAIN IN 5 WEEKS FOR C6. WHAT I WANT TO KNOW IS THEY SAID NOTHING OF THE METAL PLATE AREA AND I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THIS BECAUSE HE HAS A CLICKING SOUND COMING FROM IT AND CAN HEAR IT , MYSELF. I FEEL THIS A SIGN OF IT BEING LOOSE OR SOMETHING. CAN YOU ANSWER THIS FRO ME. THANK YOU.

Hi, Karen.

Until your husband tumbles to the fact that bracing is the cause of his recurrance AND the original cause, this is what the rest of his life is going to be like.

The first surgeon did nothing to help him know how to prevent his problem since it might have avoided the need for the surgery. Now he is reaping the consequences of doing nothing about the cause: your husband reaps the pain and disability and the surgeon reaps more business.

Things are getting a bit late for full recovery but still his only option is to deal with the bracing before even more damage is done. See the glossary and then the archives as to what this is and what to DO about it. Also go to the spinal archives.

Let us know what he learns.

Walt
