Dr. Stoll a protein question...Olympic athletes

Hi there Walt:
Did you get a lot of rain?

I noticed with the women's beach volleyball and men's that when they had a time out they all did the same thing: first they drank a blue liquid followed by water bottle with a blue label.I wonder which brands.

I just heard from a health sporty person that before during and after a workout that protein is vital.

Are some proteins better, stronger than others like egg whites vs. protein powder?
Also what do you think of energy bars?

Remember when and how Gatorade first came out in Florida? Now it is sugary? One male volleyball player was drinking a red drink that looked like Gatorade.

Those 2 sports were just the finest touch and go sports I have ever seen..tied all the way to the finish and USA won.So thrilling and exciting.

Anyhow I just need to understand how protein works.

Stay dry down there..

Lovebird

Nah, Lovebird.

We hardly have experienced much rain and no winds above 10 MPH. Although I cannot complain, I am beginning to hope that "f" stands for "fizzle" and not for "Fay".

However, it still looks like the main front will not get here till about noon today so maybe I better not crow yet.

Now. Proteins. Our properly functioning gut enzymes break down all proteins into amino acids, which are absorbed through the gut wall into the blood. They are taken to the liver where they are then combined into usable proteins for body building and metabolism.

There are only 8 amino acids that our bodies still cannot synthesize in this way. They are called "the essential amino acids" and must be ingested like a vitamin. Any healthfood bookstore, or lending library woudl have books about this. There probably is an entire section in the healthfood store with essential amino acid supplements.

Hope this helps.

Walt

Oh thanks
It just so happened that Emeril was helping a man at Whole Foods Market that has a liver problem and they mentioned grains, proteins.

There is always so much to understand.

I just heard on the weather news that fay is moving west but just rain.

Thanks so much
lovebird

We made a batch of vegetable soup that is so delicious. We visited a farm here with acres of fruits and vegetables and met an older man and the owner as well who told us how to go about this project.

I am telling you this soup got better as we cooked it each day just like these farmers said.

The most am azing side effect was deep sleep and rest and such good dreams as well.

Whole foods work perfectly in the body.

I am learning...and applying these principles... I put in sweet and regular red potatoes, tomatoes, c orn off the cob,, fresh string beans, fresh garden onions, bay leaf salt and pepper ,carrots, celery and then we stopped by the butcher for a soup bone, broccoli and a little garlic...
They make all kinds of butters and spreads there like pear, apple, berrys of all kinds.
I really like the old-fashion methods.
I just saw on 33 2 farmers in Maine mentioning how they have fresh produce through the winter by plastic on the inside and outside of their greenhouse there.
4 Seasons is their name.

Oh well always learning...
