One more question for Walt

Posted by Mary [3892.6457] on April 27, 2009 at 02:55:31:

Hi Walt,

I have a craving for sugar and have had this all my life. I would call
this an addiction.

I have read about low adrenals causing sugar craving, etc.

Would you please comment?

(Yes, I know about the PWFD and that some people have the will
power to just stop eating sugar, etc. So far, for any significant length
of time, that is just not me. Wish it were, but it's sure doesn't seem
to be possible. I am being honest.)

thanks

Thanks, Mary.

I do not think ANYONE should try the PWFD without knowing EXACTLY how to do it. It is simply too painful and takes too long for results unless it is done like an experiment in the lab. ANY refined carbohydrate (including fruit) will spoil the results and increase the withdrawal period. It would take a saint to be able to withstand that trauma.

Beth Loiselle's book will really help anyone serious enough to give this a try. If, after a week or so, one does not already feel better, this is probably not a worthwhile thing for YOUR health.

I know, for me, I could see hanging from my thumbs for a week if I knew that it would solve many health problems for me. If you cannot even do this for a week, you had better foggedaboudit.

Walt

Hi Mary,

Don't rely on will power alone.

Have substitutes -- stevia, for example.

Be in a place where you can't be tempted. I cleared my house 100% of all sugar products and only had fruit in the house if I had a craving. I found that raw cashews worked well, too.

Or go camping for a couple of weeks.

Do this at a time when there's not a lot of ridiculous food around, like the holidays.

Always have nuts or some munchies in your pocket -- something you really like -- and get those in your mouth as soon as you have a craving.

Yes, it is an addiction. You may have to give sugar up for life, like alcoholics need to give up alcohol 100% for life.

Best wishes,
Jan
