Hi, everyone, I just wanted to tell everyone that I am currently using an herbal eyewash formula, for my eyes to help improve them, the problems I have are floaters, and myopic (nearsightness) I was wondering Dr. Stoll if an herbal formula could actually rid floaters? Can the eyewash actually penetrate into the vitreous of the eye? Also is being myopic genetic?? Do you know of anyway to help so that I don't get more myopic, I currently only wear contacts, and am -4.00 prescription in each eye, and was wondering if this is severe myopia?? If you could answer my questions that would help me a lot, thanks a lot Dr. Stoll I love your site, and your messages :)

I forgot to add I am currently takeing a multi-vitamin called ocupower, that is for your eyes, and is also a multi-viatmin, it is made by NSI, not sure if you know who that is DR. Stoll but if you do, do you think their products are good?

Thanks, Mike.

I know nothing about Ocupower.

I know of nothing that will get rid of floaters once they are there except the wash out procedure (see the eyes archives).

There are exercises that any holistic eye doc knows that take dedication but work to reverse myopia. One of them even uses a rebounder.

Hi Mike and Walt,

Mike, -4.0 isn't as severe as they come. I've heard of cases of -13.0. I'm guessing that's extremely severe.

There are a number of books out there about vision therapy. It can be helpful to read several as they each have different information.

About myopia being genetic, I'm not so sure. My eye doctor says they don't really know what causes it. Hmmm. It seems to run in families but you know, parents pass down behavioral patterns to children as well as genes so it may be a "learned skill." My guess is that there are different factors or causes; environment is probably a big part for some people.

Several years ago I was -5.25 in the right and -3.75 in the left (contacts). I started doing vision therapy and my current glasses are now -3.25 in the right and -2.75 in the left. I improved my vision by using slightly weaker prescriptions, and having less stress in my life helped a lot, too.

I haven't seen any improvement from doing the exercises that I've done so far.

Walt, I'm really interested in knowing more about the exercises using the rebounder if you happen to have a reference. I haven't come across anything like that so far.

Best wishes,
Happygal

Thanks, Happygal.

The exercises that I have seen work are available at: The Seattle Vision Improvement Center, 7907 212th S.W., Edmonds. WA 98020. These exercises are Based upon Dr Bates' famous eye exercises combined with Reboundology as described by Al Carter. They even have a kit with a tape, vision cards and books describing the process.

Hope this helps.

Walt

Hi, Dr. Stoll thanks for the info, do you think that an herbal formula could actually help eyes get better is it even possible? here is the ingredients
cayenne, passionflower, red raspberry, bilberry, bayberry, eye bright, golden seal

do you know of any of these that could hurt the eye, the instructions are to use it once a day on each eye w/ an eyecup for 5 minutes in each eye, it also says to store in a glass container w/ lid, do you beleive that a cleaned out pickle jar, is airtight enough to not let anyting into the formula (you simmer the herbs yourself that you get) thanks for your opinion Dr. Stoll
