Help Me Please..

I have suffered so so long with a bad case of <> for many years !

Nothing seems to cure it.. have tried powders, various over the counter creams for jock itch. Several dermatologists have prescribed several creams all failed!

The only way I can get <> relief is to apply CLOTRIMAZOLE 1% cream 2 x a day - Morning then in the Evening after a shower.

I have used this cream for over 5 years and I hope there will be no side effects!

My family medical doctor recently prescribed Lamasil ORALLY. I took it orally 1X a day for 7 weeks. It did absolutely nothing! Now I find out there have been serious kidney damage problems associated with Oral Lamsil ! I immediately ceased taking it!

I have scoured this site for jock itch cures. There was a brief but not very detailed mention of a <> ???.

Kindly provide any additioanl information if you have a successful cure experience for Jock Itch.

Please help! It is a most annoying problem.

Thanks !!!!!!!!

Ron

I would bet you have a candida problem in your gut. Get William Crook's book. (I checked it out from the library.) Can't remember the exact name... it's something about yeast or candida. It's a very real condition. Look up Candida and Leaky Gut Syndrome (LGS) in the archives to see how you eliminate the problem.

Good luck,

Martha

Thanks Ron for the added info. It looks like your a little overweight by about 30-35 lbs. I don't know your age but I would guess late 20's or early 30's. Seven years is a long time to be suffering from this problem. I would almost guess this is a case of chaffing brought on by skin to skin or clothes to skin contact. Do you wear tight fitting clothes like briefs, jeans, etc, if so loosen up, air it out. Remember chaff skin which is in a warm, moist, dark enviroment is the perfect breeding ground for fungus and bacteria. You could have a combination of all three( chaffing, fungus, bacteria) but I believe the medication your using "Clortrimazole" acts more like a lubricant rather than an effective treatment against the fungus. Chances are after five years of use any fungus would have built up a resistance to it by now. If I were you, I would try a different regimen totally. I would use a anti-bacterial soap like Dial when you shower or bath. Do not wash the affected area with a cloth or anything harsh, just use your hand. When you dry off make sure the area is completely dry by pat drying with a towel or use a hair dryer. Apply an oil based antibiotic ointment like Bactroban. Start wearing loose clothing, maybe even give up wearing underwear for awhile to prevent further chaffing until you heal. In the meantime, you should search this site for other possible causes should the treatment I mention not work for you, also consider following the whole food diet as recommended by Dr. Stoll in his book and start sheading those extra pounds.

I am not sure if what I used to get was jock itch, but it likely was. I went to Hawaii 5 or 6 years ago and played a lot of golf and tennis. I developed a real irritation in my "private area". It was very uncomfortable and so I stopped wearing briefs and went to boxers. I have not gone back except for a few times. When I go back to briefs, I get the irritation where the briefs contact my skin. A few times it was annoying so I used some of my 2 year old's diaper rash lotion - it worked great. But so long as I just wear boxers and be sure to shower every day - especially after exercising, I don't have any problems. Good luck.

Hi Ron, just a suggestion, you might want to try taking a natural anti-fungal that is used for getting rid of candida. You can try oil of oregeno, caprylic acid, candex, candida be gone, etc........

Hi, Ron.

Listen to Barb, Steve, Buzz, Vince & Martha.

You HAVE TO HAVE susceptigility factors for this to happen. The first, and easiest to resolve would be your weight.

Have you had a glucose tolerance test (properly done)? See the diabetes archives.

See the fungus infections archives, or get a copy of my book for the chapter about fungus.

Let us know what you learn. Use the glossary for any unfamiliar terms.

I would get a routine urinalysis to rule out damage by the lamasil. If there is no damage by now, you can at least take THAT additional susceptibllity factor (some worry) off your plate.

Walt

Dr Stoll.

Thank you ever so much for the fine comments..

10/4 on susceptibility .. Interesting..never thouht in those terms .. Thanks..

I am on a diet.. and exercising ! I was at 170 pounds ..still had the chronic jock itch problem. I did suffer 2 X with Epstein Barr..Any possibility that this at the time weakened my immune system and excerbated teh problem?

FYI , I have never had a glucose tolerance test..I will arrange it - Thaks !

If you will please, ..what will the Glucose test determine and what does this actually mean in reagrd to my chronic jock itch?

What are the NORMAL glucose values and abnormal values ?

I definitely will get book and devour fungus chapters!

Thanks for the suggestion for a urinalysis exam..

I took Lamasis for about 7 weeks ..250 mg 1X a day

My MD GP prescribed Lamasil. Amazing! - cure you or kill you! I would never have taken Lamasil if I had been strongly advised and made aware of the degree for possible liver damage.

Thanks for future replies and I love your web site.
You are to be commended !

Regards,

Ron Foxe

I have tried everything you suggested.. nothing worked..I even used the Baby diaper rash stuff..my dermatologist recommended it..never helped me ! I have tried several showers a day.. still never cured me..it would go away and then return.. I will try other recommendations as posted .

Thanks for the concern and advice !

Regards,

Ron

Buzz.

Thank you for the very comprehensive reply !

Yes..I am indeed 30 pounds or so overweight. I am working on it ..dieting and exercising !!

I wish I was in my 20's or 30's ! I am 59 !!!!! But I am active.

I try never to wear tight clothes..let the skin in the affected area breathe..

Being over weigh makes it worse though!

Yes..warm moist is no good !!!!!!!!!!

I suspect you are 100% correct..various factors chaffing..bacteria and moist. I live in Tucson Az.hot..but I used to live on Long Island,NY..it was cold..but I still had the problem !

Yes Understood..

Clotrimazole only helps me ..helps me to control some of the itch and discomfort ! But it only lasts for a few hours.. Can you imagine ..doing this for over 7 years !!!!!!

I have tried tried most everything..even vinegar. that rally irritated it made it flare up worse !! even special creams by about 3 dermatologists never helped !

I will retry the antibacterial Dial soap. Thanks!

You are correct.I am sure the fungus is very very resistive after so many years..a new and complete regimen is absolutely in order !

I tried losing the underwear thing..Weird at first..
My wife used to break my chops about it..but hell I wanted to ry anything to eliminate it for ever !

I have to check out the whole food diet..I am on salads and lots of fruit now.. ..water.. no coke.. no junk stuff. I have indeed lost some weight..and have been exercising !

THANKS FOR ALL YOUR FINE SUGGESTIONS BUZZ

Regards,

Ron

I just put a little 20 Mule Team Borax in water to make
it slippery and apply it. That should work mighty fast
and if it doesn't i would try 1/8th teaspoon of of both
cayenne and salt in about 3 oz of water and apply it. I
don't find the amounts to be critical and one application
usually works. Relief is usually instant.

Ron,
I am sorry none of my suggestions helped. I do know that over washing (or drying) didn't help my situation. I guess I just try to stay very consistant in my hygiene. I also stay away from salt water (ocean) unless I know I can get a shower in pretty quickly. Good luck to you. I know how frustrating and irritating this can be.

Thanks, Ron.

See the diabetes archives. If you even only have chemical diabetes, a monilial tinea cruris will be a lot more difficult to get rid of.
