Toenail fungus - testimonial

Four years ago, I came to this website looking for help for my severe toenail fungus. My second little toenail had been infected for 12-15 years, my big toenail, 6-7 years, and it was spreading to my middle toenail as well.

I began the vinegar treatment described here, and practiced it daily. The middle nail cleared up rather quick.

I wanted to report that just 3-4 months ago, did I finally start seeing the new pink clear nail growing out at the base of my big toenail. That nail was so incredibly thick with fungus, it literally took 3.5 years for the base to start clearing.

Now the same thing is happening with the 2nd nail, which has been infected for 16-19 years now.

I have some medical problems which cause poor circulation in my feet, so my nails may grow slower than some folks. Also, the two infected nails were extremely thick, like maybe 1/4" thick, or slightly more.

I am not done yet, but wanted to share that if you are diligent, this treatment will work!!! And its cheap.

My third toenail has remained clear to this day, and I do the vinegar treatment on it daily still just to ensure that.

This is an example of patience and perseverance. You have put your finger on your own particular circumstances that could explain why this has taken so long. When your condition is taken into account--knowing the natural progression (gradually getting worse)-- this is truly a great testimonial.

Well done Lisa, it sounds great for you, I am at the moment hoping for the same results. My nails have been affected for about the same time as yours so with any luck I will eventually get some new healthy nails soon.
Please can you tell me, did you file down your nails while you were treating them and what percentage was the vinegar you used?
Also please can you tell me once the new nail was showing did they grow a bit faster? I can imagaine my nails would take years to push past the fungus nails, they are so thick!

Thank you for posting. Perhaps I should have carried on with the vinegar for longer than 2.5 years. I thought it wasn't working.

I have recently been diagnosed with hypothyroidism and my circulation is not good. My nails grow like snails move - hardly at all. This could explain why I thought it wasn't working.

I will now start again!

How severe was your infection and how long did you have it?

I'm still using the PB-8. I did use the iodine, started on Christmas Day and continued until I started acupuncture and the Chinese herbs and a Chinese topical. I should have continued with the iodine! I restarted the iodine several weeks ago and am starting to see pink.

Not as bad as some I've seen but bad enough. I used just regular "store bought" iodine and even missed applications .... still had great results.
I have no concerns about safety but you may react diffrently.

Thanks. Guess it's back to square one, for me. Interesting that when I use the bleach gel pen in conjunction with the iodine, it turns the nail black. At other times, there's no change with the bleach gel pen. Crazy, huh? Guess it's doing some good. Thanks, Craig!

The middle nail on my foot had only been infected about halfway down the nail bed. So the vinegar treatment cleared that one up in a few months.

The other two nails, unfortunately, were infected down way into the base of the nail bed, so they appeared to be very thick starting at the base. I would estimate my large toenail to be approaching 1/3" thick.

I would just clip the ends on those as short as possible, and file them a bit to smooth them. I had to stop wearing some of my shoes because the thickness of the nail made the shoes too tight and the pressure caused pain. I had spent years not knowing what to do, so the fungus just got worse and worse for many years.

Then, after over 3 years of twice daily application of vinegar, when the base of the big nail finally turned pink and clear, it did seem like my nail started growing faster. It seemed like the vinegar had finally gotten all the fungus out of the base of the nail and it could grow in healthy for the first time in over a decade.

Within 3-4 months, I had 1/4" of clear pink nail bed growing in on my big toenail.

I will report back as it grows in further.

What I did is I read the material here and it made logical sense to me, so I just decided to never give up and see what would happen.

I believe if my nails can be cured of this, then anyone's could, given enough time.

I think another key factor people need to think about is - is the fungus rubbing on the insides of your shoes and then continually reinfecting your nails?

I have taken extra precautions the past few years to always wear a sock on the foot with the fungus so as to protect the insides of my shoes. I still have 3 healthy nails on that foot without any fungus (one was cured with vinegar), so I must be doing something right.
