Walt ~ Whats the Real Deal on Soy?

Posted by Maria on April 12, 2003 at 07:54:18:

Seems to be so many conflicting reports on soy, soymilk, tofu etc, that I hardly know what to believe about it anymore.

There are many articles on the net, and on your site, disreputing soy's health benefits, and then there are others touting its manyhealth benefits. Even holisitic people claim, yes, it is good for you, and dont believe those silly reports that its not.

So please, whats the real deal? And with the oestrogen in soymilk, would it be beneficial to women, although not men or would it just mess with our hormones too much to be of any use to women?

unfermented soy is not good for you

Hi, Maria.

The world literature I am reading tells me that soy still has a place in human nutrition. Unfortunately the genetically engineered form (already the majority available to humans) is really questionable. Ask me again in a year or so.

I know dogs are not suppose to have soy and there is soy in alot of dog foods.
After reading that article on soy-I wonder if that is what caused my nodule thryoid-how can you fix the problems soy causes?

Hi, Dee.

I doubt that it had anything to do with your nodule.

To my knowledge all problems ascribed to eating a lot of soy are reversed by stopping it.
