Testimonial

Posted by Sylvia [9056.3047] on September 09, 2009 at 16:44:16:

I've been wanting to post this for some time now but kept putting it off. Anyway, a few years back I had posted on this board about a thyroid nodule I had that had been diagnosed as Hashimoto's disease.
After 3 years of wellness (and, I have to admit, in a rather liberal way) there's no trace of the nodule and the levels of antibodies are back to normal.
A big thank you to Dr. Stoll for making me believe in myself and taking my life back in my own hands.

Yes, changing my diet was the first thing I did.

Personally, I followed a liberal whole foods diet as I couldn't stop eating fruit.

As far as starting, the first thing I did was to throw out all refined carbs, that is, white flour, white pasta, white rice and sugar. That included all kinds of crackers, cookies, frozen pizzas etc.
Then, I replaced those with 100% whole grains, brown rice, whole wheat flour and pasta, etc. To be honest, I barely noticed any difference, as far as taste.

Next, I threw out processed meats, like ham and salami, as well as margarine and spreads.

The most important thing for me was to discipline myself to buy single ingredients only, things like vegetables, fish, chicken, fruit, olive oil etc. and cook everything myself from scratch.

I do cheat occasionally now, especially in social situations or dining out, but I didn't cheat for about 6 months.

I hope this helps you a bit, but keep in mind that I am no expert and I'm still learning myself.

Hi Sylvia,

Were you avoiding iodized table salt when you
developed the nodule?

Have you been using it regularly since you
made all your diet changes?

Thanks, Sylvia.

Hopefully your testimonial will help others take this approach more seriously. By the way, responding to your last note, now your job is to never stop learning.

Congratulations for getting on the "path".

Walt

Hi Ron,

No, I wasn't avoiding iodized table salt when I developed the nodule which was when I was in college.
Luckily, my hormone levels weren't affected during the 18 years I had to live with it.

Thank you, Walt. It's amazing how much you have helped people over the years. It's not just the path, the 3LS program or the constant, generous advice you offer, it's also your absolute faith that improvement is possible and that it's never too late. All that people need sometimes is someone to convince them change is possible. And no-one's better than you at that.

"Never stop learning" should replace all those "Home sweet home" placards...

Sylvia

Thanks, Sylvia.

It is appreciation from people like you that makes all the sacrifice worth while.

Walt
