I have just recently (within the last week) noticed a bluish bump on the edge of my anus. It is very uncomfortable to the touch and is uncomfortable to sit. I am a 28 yr old caucasian male.
Any ideas what this is and how I can get rid of it?
Thanks.

Sounds like a hemorrhoid, Mr. Butt. They tend to be purple and the placement is right. Experience talking, here. Preparation H works well, as do sitz baths. But it's important to understand that the underlying cause for hemorrhoids is digestive. Handle it now before things get ugly.

ok, forgive my ignorance. I read some in the archives, but didn't really find a definition. No one ever talks about this stuff, so what exactly is a hemmerhoid? (Clinical definition?)
Thanks,
Mr. Butt :)

I think it's a swollen blood vessel caused by pressure inside and/or straining. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

are you sure you dont have an absess. You will know if it is, because usually the skin around the actual bump is very painful to touch, almost to point of screaming. If it has not overly grown in size you can supress it with antibiotics. If it has grown in size you may need to have it surgically removed.

...you should be putting some Metamucil in your diet, lots of water, lots of good whole food -- veggies, fruits, legumes. Get the BMs sliding out all the time. You don't want to get that operated on b/c it'll hurt like the dickens. So! Take care of it. They can get much worse.

haemmorhoids can be defined as varicose veins in an uncomfortable place. Outside of the United States there has been a herbal preparation called "Daflon500" available. It comes in tablet form and is very effective in reducing the swelling of the veins. Daflon500 is also being used for treating minor venous thrombosis instead of the usual heparin and wafarin sodium. I am not certain how you could have access to it. Try and search the WWW and see if you come up with an answer. Till then sitz baths and preparation H should work.

Hi, Sore.
This is almost certainly a thrombosed hemorrhoid and most physicians have been trained to remove the clot in their offices under a local.
Any ethical physician will find a way to work you in to do this.
Let us know how you do.

Could be a herpes sore. Try zinc oxide. (It's possible you were infected years ago, didn't know it, and have had a delayed outbreak)
