Incontinence

I have some information regarding incontinence. (Whatever articles are found at this site by a search pertaining to incontinence are not viewable by me at this time and I found nothing in the archives.)

My 75+ Mother has a big problem with urge incontinence. After thinking about my own experience, I realized that I have a small problem with stress incontinence. After doing an internet search on the subject of incontinence, I found a site that sells a device called the KegelMaster.

Most or many of us women have heard of kegel exercises. Most or all of us also realize that they don't do anything for us. The reason is this and it makes a lot of sense to me: contracting and releasing the PC muscle isn't going to develop that muscle, just as contracting and releasing my bicep muscles isn't going to develop that muscle. However, if you can use some kind of resistance (as you would to develop that bicep muscle), you've got something entirely different going on.

From personal experience, this device works. Sneezing and coughing would occasionally produce several drops of urine. After about 4 easy sessions with the KegelMaster, I have regained the necessary muscle control.

As an aside, I also realized that my Mother's wonderful urologist has her on Detrol. Well, from what I have read, that is not for people with glaucoma--she has glaucoma in the early stages. Duh...........These people get paid royally to further ruin people's health. His next step would be surgery, naturally; not a solution at all.

I got my Mom to use one of the KegelMasters and so far (it has been about a week), nothing has happened--literally. First, she had to get past her relucatance to do something "down there". Secondly, her memory is the pits and, even the procedure is quite simple, she can't get it straight what she has to do to get her muscle control back. I am calling her long distance every other day to check on her procedure and, hopefully, one of these days, she'll do it correctly and win that battle.

Thanks, Ellie.

This is valuable information!

Can you give us a way to contact the makers of this device or even how you found it.

Ellie,

Maybe your mom just can't control the muscles and that is
the problem.

I picked up a 3 yr old dog that was a nervous pee'r and
also when excited. After starting to give her pills to
kill fleas that affects their nervous system and me just
handling the pills which made my chemical injury weakened
muscles fee stronger she stoped having a problem even after
stoping the pills. Because they helped my weak muscles I
looked them up and the drug was listed in a Merck manual as
doing the Same things that the prescription drugs did for
Myasthenia Gravis a muscle weakness condition so sometimes
there is just a defect in muscle function. I used to laugh
when people told me that my Only problem was that i was
out of shape and needed to exercise since I was Never
affraid of physical activity and went out of my way to make
everything I did to give me a workout but I just had No
stamina.

Ellie,

Forgot to mention that what has really helped me recently
has been Ester-C and MSM though I don't know if they would
help your mom. Could just be what I needed. About the flea
pills that made my muscles feel stronger Just handling them,
I was affraid to take them since I was SO out of it and a
breeder friend who is affraid of everything though they
killed one of her dogs. Pseudoephedrine helped my eye
muscle weakness as predicted and the legs of a dog who had
had a heat stroke.
