New resource for personal Macrobiotics help. (Archive.)

Friends,

Back when I was just learning all this holistic stuff, a man came to me and introduced himself as a Certified Macrobiotics Teacher. He had graduated from the Kushi Institute (Michio Kushi is the developer of Macrobiotics.)and was traveling the country spreading the word.

Since my policy had always been to experience any holistic modality, personally, before offering it to any patient professionally, we struck a deal: He would live with me for a few months while preparing all my meals Macrobiotically, and teaching me about it philosophically.

This is how I came to be able to at least have an idea which patients might benefit from this effective dietary approach for serious chronic conditions.

Yesterday I got a call from him (bless the internet) after more than 25 years. He now has a website from which he helps people learn Macrobiotics. His address is www.davidsnieckus.com

Let us know what you learn.

Walt

Thanks Walt. I have fond memories of visiting your clinic in Lexington and having Bob Sachs(am I right on the name?) teach me about macrobiotics. He was such a gentle soul and I will never forget one act of his that profoundly affected me. We were in his 'office' talking and a gnat was flitting around his head. He cupped his hands and gently guided the gnat out the front door. I had never known that kind of consideration for what I thought at the time for a 'lowly little gnat'. That one act of his helped to teach me more about compassion than anything else in my life. I wish I had told him that at the time.

I will check out the link you provided.

Thanks, Marian.

I am sure Bob would be glad to hear from you. He has his own teaching website about Ayurveda now and has written several books with his wife Melanie. His phone is(877) 964-1395 and (805) 543-9291. His email is mandrsachs@earthlink.net Say hello to him for me.

Now you can tell him about the gnat. I am sure that he thought nothing about it. That was just the way he is.

Walt
