Hi all,
Before the July break, someone asked about magnets on this BB. Here is my experience for anyone who is interested.
At the beginning of July I started a new job that is very physical. I am on my feet all day, doing a lot of bending and lifting. A couple of weeks after I began the job my friend gave me a pair of magnetic shoe inserts to use. She also gave me a magnetic sleep system which my husband and I used for a few days. I noticed my husband snored less.
I wore the shoe inserts to work and found I had a lot of energy and stamina during the whole shift. Last Saturday I did a double shift and had been awake 26 hours by the time I got home at 5 am. I was dragging by 3 am, however but managed to complete the job just fine. I only work three shifts a week, and even on my days off I had so much energy I cleaned out all my cupboards and closets and got rid of a bunch of junk. I also cleaned out areas in my yard I had not touched for a year.
Last week I was rear-ended while at a stop sign and I wrenched my upper back. I took the shoe inserts and secured them to my back and the next day the discomfort was gone. I also used some essential oils, the aromatherapy kind.
After all this, I was interested in this magnetic stuff and so I went to a meeting with my friend to learn more. the people there had stories of getting relief from symptoms of everything from allergies to fibromyalgia, headaches to back problems.
I don't know how they work, but apparently the magnets are doing something. I guess they relax the body and release stress as well as increase energy. I figure they release enough stress to put the user back from the edge of the cliff. People did say if they discontinued the use of the magnetic products their symptoms returned, but one man said he had been using them for four years and he is finally able to reduce the medication he was taking for sleeping during the day because of his sleep apnea at night. He said he did start to sleep better at night after only a short time, though.
So, if the symptoms come back they are obviously not getting rid of the cause of the problem and the magnets could be put in the category of rolfing, etc. Since it is so difficult to get into a wellness program of diet, exercise and SR when one is experiencing so much discomfort from physical and emotional symptoms, I can see that magnets could possibly be used to get a person to a point where they would be able to do the rest of it.
At the meeting they also stressed how the magnetic products were important in preventing illness as well as reducing symptoms of illness.
All I know is, I am enjoying this extra energy. In fact, yesterday I decided to do an experiment. I ate a bunch of junk, I really mean junk-ice cream and corndogs (I don't usually eat meat like that, especially something with pork in it and so many preservatives) I did not get the body aches I would usually have experienced nor the fatigue. In fact I woke up early as usual this morning (sugar usually wipes me out and I have a hard time getting up) and went rollerblading. Did my best time ever and even did a half mile sprint at 16.5 mph at the end. My husband clocked me on his bike.
I did buy the shoe inserts from my friend. I don't know how they work but there is something to this. Even so, I am NOT going back to eating junk. :>)

Here is my experience:
My mom insisted I try her magnetic matress pad while she was on vacation last year (now she won't leave home without it). It did nothing for me; in fact, it probably made my fibromyalgia worse because it was so hard to sleep on. I slept on it about eight days, and I REALLY wanted it to work.
My uncle sent me some inserts for my shoes, but they didn't do anything either.
My mom and I went to a presentation at a local health food store, and we were both so impressed we bought into a distributorship and spent several hundred dollars, but I made sure everything had a 30-day return guarantee. We got some interesting stuff -- a mask to wear for migraines and supposedly give you tighter skin and muscles; a bracelet for arthritis; a collar for neck and shoulder pain; a necklace for general wellness; several little spot magnets (9000 gauss each) for spots of pain anywhere.
I wore the collar a little while for my stiff neck, and it just made it worse because it felt so heavy on my shoulders. Then I put six spot magnets on my back for about a week, but I didn't notice a difference then either.
Finally -- AND HERE IS THE GOOD NEWS -- I had a headache for two days that was really getting to me, so it finally dawned on me to try one of the spot magnets on my forehead. I placed it on the temple that was throbbing. Two hours later I noticed my headache had just faded away.
I wish I could say they work as well for me as for some other people. My mom and me are definitely believers in this kind of stuff, but for some reason we just don't respond at times. She loves her matress pad, and I wouldn't give up my little spot magnets. I envy those who have had even more results than that!
Just wanted to add another opinion ... my point being, it's worth a try, but you might want to look for the guarantee before purchasing anything very expensive.

Just kidding about the blood type. I just finished scanning ER4YT and I was thinking about 4 different blood types and how people with different blood types (and skin colors) could react so differently to things. Perhaps this is true with magnets!!!???
I have experience only with the magnets that go inside the shoe. I really wanted them to work since I paid $20 for them and I was at Disney World for a very expensive week package and I was on my feet all day every day, and feeling very sore, tired, burning feet. I could tell no difference wearing them, except that they made my shoes noticeably heavier. But perhaps I had the wrong blood type for them to help! ;-)

Why don't you quit sniping at ER4YT and read (not "scan")it? Then commit to a serious two-week trial. I have a feeling it'll do you a lot of good. Quit tiptoeing around the edges and dive in!

I got a magnetic mattress pad 2 weeks ago, and I love it! What I have noticed (and my husband) is a deeper quality of sleep. I require less sleep now, and my whole body is warm when I wake up in the morning. My husband had shoulder surgery in May and has had lower back pain since the surgery, to the point that he would have to sleep on the floor at night or on the couch (tossing and turning). He now can sleep on the bed again, and sleep all night long without tossing and turning. I would say to those of you who are skeptical or who have tried magnets for only a few hours, to give it a week or even two weeks. It took me about a week before I noticed anything. Just like with vitamins and self-relaxation, getting better takes time!!! The box the mattress pad came in, says that magnets are supposed to increase circulation, which could possibly aid in healing.
P.S. I seem to have an even more "magnetic personality" now! ;)

I am helping a friend who was in a car accident by taking her to my health practioner. Just yesterday, he gave her a magnet to use for her shoulder injury. He explained that the south pole of magnets tends to be stimulating. While the north pole tends to be soothing/healing. He instructed her to place the north pole of the magnet against her injured shoulder. He also commented that the magnetic beds, etc. can be too much for some people. I think this fits with the experiences relayed here. Sounds like it is again a case of "one size does not fit all". It is an individual thing.

Hello.
I'd love to hear scientifically exactly what the magnetic field is doing to your body. This sounds like wonderful results. But, just from a logical point of view, I wonder if it is good to be exposing yourself to chronic doses (like lying with them 8-hours/day/every day)of "anything". Maybe, use them as needed for short periods of time but not for your life?? At least until you know exactly what it does?
We all are exposed to very low level (in some cases, not so low) electromagnetic fields and many studies indicate no harm. But thinking about the human brain, its chemicals, neurons, etc., there is also an electromagnetic component that may actually explain the phenomenon of a "thought". Really, no pun intended, think about it. What electromagnetic/chemical process is going on when you think, "What a beautiful day!"? Truly it is an astounding process (I spent 3 years working on neural networks - good for pattern recognition but that's about it). Now... consider taping a bunch of magnets to your head. I think it sounds kind of weird and would wonder about its long-term effects on my body/mind. Wouldn't it be better to cure your headaches (as I have) by diet/SR/etc than by taking a pill? (in this case a magnetic pill)
Who knows, in 20 years, maybe we all will all be sleeping on magnetic beds. I've been wrong before. Its still something to think about.
Regards
Pete Reinhard

Hi Johnelle,
I thought I would give you a little more info about the man with fibromyalgia I met who was helped by the magnets. He said he had pain that traveled from one part of his body to another. He had chronic fatigue and from what he says he certainly had brain fog. He would start driving to an appointment and end up somewhere else and not know what he was doing there. His wife made sure he had his cell phone with him so she could call and check up on him. He also had severe depression.
Someone gave him the mattress pad to sleep on and told him he would get worse before he got better because of cleansing reactions. He did. After a week he wanted to return the bed he felt so awful. He was persuaded to continue with it and ended up sleeping on it for three weeks before he felt better. I don't know if he was using any other magnetic stuff in addition to the mattress pad. Now his wife says he acts like the man she used to know. He isn't 100% but he feels alive now.
I have printed off a lot of your posts and when I get to know him better I will share them with him and tell him a little more about a wellness program so perhaps he can find out the cause of his illness. You certainly are an inspiration to many of us with your dedication to wellness.
I don't remember how long it took for me to notice a difference in how I felt after wearing the shoe inserts. I have had them about three weeks. My husband started wearing them 4 days ago and when he played raquetball yesterday he noticed he wasn't wiped out at the end of three games as he usually is when it is hot and humid. But you are right-everyone reacts to things differently. I am glad they help your headaches.

Pete-
I wonder the same thing. The company I bought my stuff from has been selling magnetic products for 25 years. Maybe they have done a study on side effects or something. It seems after 25 years they would know if there were any.
I am basically healthy and eat mostly a whole foods diet and I thought I had a lot of energy until I started this new job. I am grateful for the stamina I have now, but you are right. I think you would need a break from the magnets, just as Dr. Christopher says you take herbs and supplements for 6 days and lay off the seventh day. If you did not change your lifestyle I think disease might catch up with you in the end-although if indeed the magnets relieve stress.... who knows.

Hi RHJ,
Maybe you inserted them upside down (hee hee). I heard on the radio the other day if you take refridgerator magnets and put them on top your food 4 hr before you eat it, the magnet will activiate enzymes and make it healthier.

Hi, Helen.
The "science" of the 20th century focussed on biochemical processes. Researchers are now, finally (since we now have the instrumentss to detect it), coming to realize that the bodymind is at least as much an electromagnetic system as it is a biochemical (allopathy and osteopathy) and structural (Chiropractic and Osteopathy) system.
Personally, I think the electromagnetic syatem is the MOST basic "system" living things have. Everything else ultimately derives its structure and function from it.
Those in the know are saying that the 21st century will be the century of catching up on the electromagnetic thing man is. We certainly have a LOT of catching up to do.
Please continue to share your wisdom in this field with us.

Hi Walt,
I don't know about wisdom, but I can share experiences. Yesterday I burned my thumb on the iron (dumb). The only thing I did for it was tape on it an extra piece of magnet left from cutting the shoe inserts to size. I left it there for an hour or so and today I noticed there is no redness, nor pain, even when I press on it. A woman in the meeting I went to reported cutting her finger quite badly and it was half way healed the next day. I think all she was doing was wearing the shoe inserts.
Another person at the meeting said to put the insert cuttings in your plants and they will thrive. So I did that and will watch what happens.
There is always something new to learn. I first came to this BB last August (through the ER4YT BB-which I haven't visited for many months). I am grateful to that BB, though, because I have learned so much and continue to do so. I also refer everyone to this BB so they can learn for themselves.
So thanks again, Walt, Bob and all the participants.
