abnormal Pap

Dear Dr. Stoll, I wrote to you last month and you answered and I am very glad you did, thank you. I had a pap test that came back abnormal, I had a hysterectomy 27 years ago, I am 64, I had heavy periods, and dysplasia of the cervix, no cancer. Yesterday I had to go back to the Dr. for a follow up and he did a biopsy from the vaginia I guess, and took pictures of the inside, I was upset because I was worried about what he was looking for, I told hime I have very dry vagina, really didnt listen to me, now I have to wait for the biopsy, and I am scared to death, please tell me what you think of this. Thanks in advice, Dar

Hi, Dar.

A PAP smear is VERY unreliable for discovering vaginal cancer! If it showed frankly malignant cells, they had to come from somewhere. Let us know what you learn.

This is another example of why you need to have copies of all your records at home. ALL laboratories send your doc at least 4 copies so he can easily provide you with a copy. If he does not, he will just throw away 3 of those copies. I will bet that you can read at least as well as he can.

Walt

Dr. Stoll, I wrote to you abnout abnormal pap twice and you answered, with I am gratefull for your help. Now another scare has occurred. I went to the Dr.on Mon. of this week and came home more confused then ever. The Dr. scolded me for asking too many questions, I asked if he was thinking I have vaginal cancer, he said, did I say you had cancer,no I am not thinking that at all. I think he just wanted me to shut up and do what he said.Well, its my health and I think I should ask questions. He wrote me a prescription and when I filled it he precribed Vagifem, I know that is somekind of estrogen, and I am scared to take it, still waiting for biopsy that he did on Monday, also, when I left the office I went past him and he said------- Are you making your chem appt, I was appalled, what do think Dr. Stoll>

Hi,Dar.

Im MY opinion, you need to get as far from this doc as your little legs :o) can get you!

Nothing you have is an emergency other than for your worry.\

IF you have vaginal cancer, the very last thing any rational doc would prescribe is an extrogen cream!

Get copies of all your records and find a better doc who will bless you for asking questions.

Let us know what you learn.

Walt
