I am planning to do the Comprehensive Parasitology test of GSDL this weekend. I have got the kit.
I thought that the laxative would be included in the kit, but it is not. The instructions are saying to use the laxative recommended by the physician, but my new doctor did not tell me what laxative to use.
What laxative is the most recommended for this test?
Thanks
Serge

My doctor said that I didn't have to use a laxative!

Hi, Serge.
The idea of the laxative is to "shake" the attached parasites off the wall of the gut. Since nearly all parasites have to attach themselves to the wall, to keep from being pssed out in the regular stool, I cannot see any specimen being helpful without purging.
Looking at it like that, the most violent laxative is the most accurate. In my experience, caster oil is that laxative.

Thanks Walt,
I am not sure about castor oil. It is in the list of substances that have to be avoided 3 days before the test.
I tried castor oil once and I found it disgusting (I almost gag) and I remember that I have not been impressed by the laxative effect. I don't remember if I took a large dose however.
What do you think about Citramax (magnesium citrate solution)? or the phosphate based ones?
Is there something else we can do to further help to "shake" the parasites of the gut? Violent or specific exercises, specific foods, etc.?

Thanks, Serge C.
The gut is too well cushioned inside the abdominal cavity for any exercise to do the shaking. Actually it is the violent contractions of the gut itself that does the trick.
The mag citrate or the phosophorus ones can do it if you take a big enough dose. You will notice unpleasant cramping if you do it right. The reason they say to avoid the castor oil for a few days before the test is that they do not want to have the parasites shaken off before you do the test.
Hope this helps.
