Hi. My three year old grandson grinds his teeth at night. Can anything be done to stop the grinding.
Thank you
Joyce

Dear Joyce,
At this age, the most common causes easily treated are parasites (classically pinworms) and candida.
The causes for these conditions have been discussed many times right here on this bb----see the archives.
Also, since this is ALWAYS related to stressors stored in the hypothalamus, reducing stressors would help as well.
The biggest stressor in a child this age---that would relate to the parasitic mechanism mentioned above is DIET.
At this age the diet is still totally controllable by the enlightened parent. If this is not done now, in a couple of years, it will NO LONGER be totally controllable by the parents and a golden opportunity will have been lost.
I would not even try doing this without a copy of Beth Loiselle, RD's book "The Healing Power of Whole Foods". Call (800) 870-5378.
Bruxism at this age is but a warning of much more serious things coming down the road. Let us hope the parents will heed the warning before they have a lot more serious things to deal with.
