is nail fungus candida?

Posted by Jim on April 22, 2001 at 10:16:15:

I recently wrote that I had the comprehensive stool test done by GSDL and the results showed NO candida or parasites and no E. coli! (I do have UC and am working on clearing up the LGS). On the big toe of my right foot the toe nail is mostly normal in appearance, but there is a chalky white discoloration running down both sides from about 1/8" from the cuticle to the end of the nail. The discoloration is along both sides of the nail and is about 1/8" wide on both sides. There are no other abnormalities with the nail. I noticed this first appear probably 6+ years ago, but thought nothing of it. Very recently, an accupuncturist told me this is a condida infection. I also just noticed this same condition starting to occur on two other toes on the same foot.

Is this candida or something else? If it is candida is it localized or symstemic? If candida is present, I'm still confused after reading the postings here as to whether I should be doing something to kill the candida or should I just concentrate on clearing up the LGS.

Other symptoms that have me worried as of late. Although I only have a bowel movement once a day and have no diahrea, the stools are small, ill-formed, and very soft. The color is normally yellowish or green...very rarely is it a "normal" brown color. I have recently cut out gluten and dairy products. Any suggestions you could offer would be greatly apprciated as I am getting very confused.

Thanks

Hi, Jim.

The comprehensive stool analysis is not for candida OR parasites. For any of them to show up on that test, the problem has to be pretty bad. IF they happen to see it they report it. The definitive test is the purged stool analysis and, even with that, one needs at least 5 separate tests to get a reliable result.

The only consolation is that GSCL is at least 10 times as good at that as are the commercial labs (at least according to the CDC whose job it is to test such labs for competence). Labs that only find 1 in 50 of the test parasites actually placed in the test specimen are still licensed by the CDC. At least GSCL find 1 in 5 test parasites in any one specimen--this is why I recommend 5 separate specimens.

Persistant nail fungus is an indication of susceptibility to fungus and SO is only tangentially related to candida. Candida is NOT the fungus that infests the nail tissue.

It might be worth your while to se a Certified Colonics Person in consultation.

Let us know what you learn.

Walt
