Hi Doctor Stoll! My name is Amy and I am a 37 year old woman that has had a pilondial cyst that flared up about nine years ago. I wanted to tell you about the interesting things that I have noticed.
Last year I started a low carb diet. Essentially I cut out all sugar. After about a month on the diet I noticed that the cyst was not noticable anymore and when I checked I could not see the three pinhole openings in the skin. I stayed on this diet for about six months and never had a problem with the cyst flaring up during that entire time. Then I fell off the wagon and back with the extra weight came the cyst, the drainage, and the problems. Interesting huh?
Also, I just spent about two months in the country of Kazakhstan completing an international adoption. Within four days of being in the country I noticed that again the cyst shrunk and the drainage holes just closed up. It was not noticeable at all during my two months there even during my time of the month when it normally flares up. What do you think caused this quick disappearance? I was thinking it could be the diet there which of course is all natural with no preservatives and additives. Also, I wondered if the water there helped. I did not have a bath only the daily shower but the water smelled like rotten eggs and reminded me of the expensive mineral water baths I have occasionally experienced at the spa.
I also notice when I go swimming in our facilities chlorinated pool the cyst seems to close up.
What do you make of these things? I am curious to hear what you think caused the improvement in symptoms for each of these occurences.
Have a great day!
