What is this?

I went to the doctor about 2 weeks ago. He told me I had a pilonidal cyst and sent me home with antibiotics. The cyst has cleared up relatively well, thanks to all the great advice I got off the bulletin board.

However a day or so after my visit to the doctor a tumor like appendge appeared about 1 cm below my drainage holes. It's a little over 1 cm long and not very wide. It bleeds, especially when my cyst wasn't draining. It's slightly tender but not too bothersome.

I also just recently noticed that a small portion of it is turning black, as if it's rotting or something. I'm a little concerned about this...is it at all related to my cyst...do you have any idea what it might be?

Thanks a lot
LeeAnn

Congratulations, Lee Ann.

It is just possible that the gangrene of the area (the black area) is actually going to cure you of this better than any surgery could.

Let us both keep our fingers crossed and see what happens. In the meantime, continuing the hot compresses will speed up the process and help prevent infection at the same time.

Let us know how you do.

Walt
