This is all about my hive problem...you've heard many
stories like this I know, but I have had an antihistimine dependency for about eight years.. I would like to be off them for good. What do I do?
MY problem is chronic hives for eight years. I have been on Claritin and now Reactine for most of that time.
The deal with the hives is stress related I'm sure. I weaned myself off of the pills when I was eighteen, but fell on my tailbone one morning causing me to go into anaphylactic shock. I've
been popping five mg of reactine every 24-36hours ever since, but only when they flare up...I try to do it that way so that I can keep track of the reactions, rather than taking it every 24 regardless just so that I don't have to deal with it.
I have had all the tests and the diagnosis is non-allergic urticaria...for which the doctors, have nothing to tell me and figure that taking care of the symptoms is all that they can
do. Reactine works for me, but I'd like to find a more healthy alternative.

Hi, Jana.
Apparently you believe the antihistamines work or you wouldn't keep taking them. You say your docs tell you that your problem is "non-allergic urticaria". However, that means that the antihistamines cannot work---other than for the placebo effect. That is, as you probably know, a pretty powerful effect (more than 70% positive effect IF you know what you are taking and believe in it) and is the basis for how self-hypnosis works. The only difference is that with self-hypnosis you are consciously triggering the effect and with a placebo you are letting it happen unconsciously. The big difference is that you can only get positive side-effects from Next, there is the possibility that the docs are wrong and that your Either way, the major cause is the alteration of the hypothalamic homeodynamics via the storage of overwhelming "stress-effect" and dealing with that will help either diagnosis.

Just to clarify. I don't really think antihistimines are great, I think that they suck but no other option was offered to me by allergists and gp's alike so i gave up. Its the buck a day that ticks me off - that and the damage that I am doing to my liver, right?
I've tried homeopathy and herbs already. I found it not helpful....expensive and I guess the rationalization didn't quite get me to the bill or the cure. I also have trouble having faith in health practitioners who have doubts. I can't believe the number of people who must harrass you daily for free My husband says that chanelling stress into work is how one can manage to maneuver around health problems. He is a pianist and a writer....I am also a creative type....he thinks hypnosis is a wonky thing....but he has recently developed hypothyroidism....stress related from too many long hours. My point about the antihistamines was that they only work for allergy Your husband needs to catch up with the times about hypnosis. Even "Changing stress into work" is especially effective when that work is creative in nature but even that has its limitations when the chronic stress is the type we now see in our culture (See the chapter about stress.) Your husband makes the mistake if thinking that what works for him will work for everyone and nothing could be fruther from the truth. By the way, your note says that even his approach is not working for HIM ALL thyroids will fix themselves if the wellness approach is used before the thyroid is totally dead. Hypothyroidism is an early sign of that approaching condition. HOWEVER, humans are not big thyroids with little people dangling from them. BY FAR more important is the hypothalamus and pituitary which tell the thyroid what to do. If only thyroid replacement is used for hypothyroid, the real cause of the problem is still being ignored and the person will have much more serious conditions in the future no matter how well the thyroid replacement is done. I've just read 30 (count 'em THIRTY) of Dr. Stoll's replies from TODAY ONLY. There was not 1 (count 'em ONE) reference to his book anywhere. If you are going to make a big deal about something on this BB, please at least be accurate! It is difficult to take you seriously when you are so obviously in error. It is also amazing to me that when people choose to make a**es of themselves, they don't sign their posts with a real name.

I hope YOU'RE foreign. At least that would explain your bad English, if not your bad manners. Most of us here have had a lot of time to think about the very things that you have brought up - whoever you are. Please just leave us alone. Before you write criticisms about things, you should at least spend some time learning the facts. I've been here for over a year now, and every so often some fool such as yourself comes along insulting OUR intelligence without knowing what they are talking about, and basically making an ass of themselves.
At the very least you should have figured out that people stay here for a reason...they are being helped.
Why don't you just go your own way and try to save someone who needs it.

Thank you for posting your emails. I'm sorry your first experience had to be with that scary, creepy guy who didn't know what he was talking about. We get that every so often ...most of the time however, we are all very supportive of one another here. Look at Dr. Sinaiko case and the a**h***s from California Medical Board of Donkeys!
A Doctor is not one who has the licence to steal, but the one who can! and who does!

Unfortunately, a lot of people like prepackaged answers.
If Dr. Stoll was only in it for the money, he wouldn't post so much of the information for free on his site. Plus, he could do what a lot of other health gurus do. He could market his own line of nutrients. He could sell more than just the one book.
The information here is free - if you want it. But ignorance can cost you your life and well-being.

Sorry, I'm new here and not too familiar with Dr. Stoll, well not at all until I needed to look up something about pinolidal cysts for my daughter. I noticed that the Doc will be at Kripalu for awhile this month and that captures my interest, Amrit lived here in my town for a year or so a few years ago, after leaving (or being asked to leave) Kripalu. This instills a sense of holistic care possibly offered here, the main thing we are looking for to deal with my daughters situation.

Sorry you had to experience what you did, but sometimes those types of trials lead us in the right direction. Go to the articles on health section of this website and start reading ... there is an article there ccalled "why I lost my license" where Dr. Stoll explains just what happened and how he was railroaded out of business by the establishment whose profits and power he threatened. This is a real problem that is still going on today with many other doctors around the country. Unfortunately, as evidenced by this thread, there are many who blindly trust the political entities like the AMA and think they are acting in the public's best interest, not their own best interest!
I think you will really like this website - just keep on reading and asking questions!

Hi, Jana.
If your docs are right about the hives being "non-allergic", the only thing that will resolve them is the regular practice of SR with imagery or the practice of self-hypnosis at least twice a day.
If the docs are wrong, the SR or self-hypnosis will still help since more than 95% of all allergies are caused by LGS which also responds to the SR. However, in this case, you could get quicker results by doing the E-diet Robert McFerran has been helping people with on this BB for a year or so.

At first thought, I felt you didn't even deserve a comment, but I'll make one anyhow.
If you would take time to visit this board to see the many benefits that Dr. Stoll has provided, you would wait before you speak too soon. I won't stoop to your level by insulting you as you did Dr. Stoll (for no reason I might add), but i will tell you that there is a LOT to gain by being knowledgeable about your health and methods and behaviors that can prolong your life. But with a negative attitude and closed-mind, it's sad to say that you will never realize these benefits.

great marketing ploy? You can hardly buy a paperback romance novel for the meager price of Dr. Stoll's book. He's not going to get rich by recommending someone buy and read his book to get his full 'take' on alternative medical treatments. Why, I'd wager the cost of running this website, alone, hardly covers what he makes on book sales.
Believe what you wish to, but Dr. Stoll takes his own time to answer these posts, and NO, he doesn't tell everyone to buy his book. Would you be willing to answer duplicate questions time after time after time.....?

Most of the information in the book is on the website and the archives. If people actually took the time to research things on this website alone, they wouldn't necessarily even need the book. But frequently they don't.

I persoanlly have been wronged by the medical establishment during a "simple" surgery when I was 18 mths. old. Having fallen over a sprinkler, my parents thought I broke my ankle. After the initial ER visit it was found that I have hereditary exestosis, a kind of overactive bone growth. Two surgeries later, I was scared for life, not just externally either. While removing these growths, the all mighty Dr.'s scraped my bone too much, stunting the growth of a growing child, and not only are my legs uneven (which creats alot of back problems itself) but the one with the surgery is bowed and crooked. It basically looks like someone born with club foot that was corrected later.
With still not much known to this day about this condition, I feel the Dr.'s involved with my situation were highly affected by the "I can do anything", "GOD" complex that plagues this day and age's Dr.'s tremendously. It certainly made an ANTI-MEDICAL person out of me for the past 40 yrs.
Forgive me from rambeling, Please tell me more about Dr. Stoll and what is this about him not being able to practice medicine? Not that this is a deterent for me,I ALREADY DON'T TRUST THE AMA,MEDICAL ESTABLISHMENT or anyone remotely related (they are all in bed together) and until they EARN the trust of millions of Americans, well, they can literally take a hike, as far as I'm concerned. TONS of viable treatments for all kinds of diseases have been banned from this country, take Latril(sp?) for example,you know, B17? It's been proven to be effective treatment for cancer and has been BANNED from this country for several years. Why not treat things through nutrition and positive living rather than bombarding the system with MORE things that stress it out? You don't need 6-8 yrs. of medical school to figure THAT out!
AND, by the way, I live in a college town that is well known for it's medical teaching school, THANKFULLY, the alternative medical counter culture is alive and flurishing here. Thanks for your time and remember, their are LOTS of us out feeling the same way......
