Dr. Stoll - Skilled relaxation

Dr. Stoll,

I have another question for you. As I have mentioned before I have CFS. I am having problems in meditation if my hypothalamic activity is above certain level. I am not being able to relax and go down to theta level. Hard question but I thought I should ask you. Do you have any tips for me?

Thank you very much.

Hi, Yildiz.

This is SO common that it has been covered, extensively, in the archives. Basically: it is to use Rolfing OR the "massage series" to get settled down enough to get past this point long enough to gain the skill.

Let us know what you learn from others in the archives.

Walt

Dr Stoll,

I must tell you that I have benefited from skilled relaxation greatly. I should admit that I can not do it regularly twice a day for the time being but I do it once at least and even that helps me a lot.As you know I have CFS and one single SR session gives me more energy and decreases my brain fog more than 4 hours of sleep does. Thank you so much for your advises. I wished all CFS sufferers would practice it.

Thank you Dr. Stoll,
I searches the archieves.I live in Turkey and I do not think I can find a rolfer here. Even if there are some it is difficult for me to find them as it is not a common practice in Turkey and I am too tired.Meanwhile I increased the time of my meditation. I tried hard for concentration and I started being able to go to the theta level again. It seems that persistance is important. Thank you very much.

Thanks, Yildiz.

Remember that there are 2 layers of benefits from SR. You are getting the first layer. It is the second layer that actually cures stuff.

Hi, Yildiz.

Read the archives about massage. It is a shorter term (several months--used as suggested) way to accomplish the same thing. I am sure that there are trained massuers in Turkey.
