is 73 and fractured her ankle Sunday. Do you have any suggestions that would expedite the healing process. I was wondering specifically about maybe the best form of Calcium for her, and whatever else you may suggest.

Thanks!

bree

PS- I like the new look of the site and your cool hat ;)

Thanks, Bree.

Is she osteoporotic? Hydroxyapatite with Boron (the stuff being recommended in the archives about osteoporosis might help heal a fracture--especially in this age and sex group. Be sure she does her rehab--especially underwater exercise rehab--when she gets her cast off.

I broke my ankle a couple of months ago. I took 1200 IU vitamin E, 400 mcg folic acid, 500 mg ester c and 50 mg zinc every day

Walt,

I want to thank you for recommending physical therapy in the archives. I had a comminuted fracture of the base of my fifth metatarsal. My podiatrist did not want to operate, as he said it would be a difficult procedure given the nature of the fracture. So, I was on crutches for 9 weeks and in a boot for 11 weeks. Your information after a fracture convinced me to seek physical therapy. I am so glad I did. I have healed properly and the pain I had had for months because of the immobilization (tissue atrophy and stiffness) was relieved within two days of doing the physical therapy exercises. I know it was the physical therapy because if I missed my morning session of exercises, I paid for it with pain in the afternoon. Walt, once again you've saved me. I could not find the information I needed to explain the cause of my foot pain three months after my fracture except on your site. I just finished PT today and am looking forward to getting in shape the right way after healing properly. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! You are a wonderful doctor!

Bobbie

Thanks, Bobbie.

The amazing thing is that no one else had recommended this to you!
