Dr. Stoll it took me 30 years to find you. I have had four toe nails permanetly removed from my right foot.Doctors told me there was no hope. Did not have any fungus for about 10 years and presently my left foot has 3 infected nails and the remaining big toe on my right foot also has the fungus. I recently went to another doctor who told me to take Lamisil, when I questoined him about any other methods, he told me I was being ignornant and to take the oral medication. I purchased the medication and then found you the wed. I always believed that we do save ourselves. Medicine has to become a team effort effort between the patient and the doctor. I do not plan on taking the medication. I have started the vinegar treatment will keep you posted on my progress. Education is the only way to go. Thanks so much for caring about us by providing this information. I have ordered your book and look forward to receiving it and learning all I can about the this "curse" nail problem and anything else you have to say. You are making a major contribution to society by providing this information. It took the web to make a level playing field finally someone is willing to give me the information I need, now it is up to me to do the work.
This is the sanest health care I have had in many years. s

When you see how easy this is to resolve (and with the book how to prevent it) you are going to get mad at those intentionally ignorant "professionals" who did what they did to you in the past.
Please share your experiences with us since your success will help others not be victimized by the monopoly.

Just wanted to give you a boost--I had fungus on NINE toenails and have been using the vinegar treatment for 3 (or is it 4?) months. Every single nail has half a normal pink nail already grown in. Can't wait for summer sandals! Good luck!

I will certainly keep you posted since I now have my brother, mother, husband using the vinegar treatment. My son who does not have this said I shouldn't give it to him. I told as soon I get Dr. Stoll's book I will know how to handle this problem. I neither want to have it or give "it" to anyone else. I will keep you posted on the progress of all four. Your light I have been looking for.

I am another one who has been doing the vinegar toenail treatment (for about 3 1/2 months). I too, have about 1/2 of a normal looking nail showing! Thanks Walt!!
The toenail/fingernail fungus has haunted my family tree for generations. My grandmother, father, brothers, uncles, aunts, and cousins all had/have it very bad under all their toenails AND fingernails. I was lucky to only have under my toenails. (My mother prayed that if her children had to get this, that it would not be her girls) My father and brothers would get massive infections under their nails from this condition. My father once had all of his nails removed trying to get rid of it, to no avail. He died years ago, never had normal nails and never knew it could be so easy to cure. WHAT A SHAME!

I got a case of toe nail fungus on one foot only. I went to my doctor and he suggested Lamisil. He told me that there was a minute chance that the medication could affect my liver so I decided not to take it. I tried topical methods but with no success. However, I was talking to a friend and he told me he had toe nail fungus too. I asked him what he decided to do. He said he went to a foot doctor and he recommended Lamisil. He had been on it awhile and about half his nail was now clear/healthy and it was just a matter of time till the whole nail would be healthy. I took a look at his nail and was impressed with the progress. I decided to take the lamisil. I just finished the 3 month treatment. The lower half of my nails are clear and the rest is the old part of the nail where the fungus was. I am hoping that in 3 more months the old part of the nail will be gone to be replaced by healthy nail. I will report back to you then.

Now, why do you think ALL physicians don't tell their patients this?
I finally have had to be forced to believe that it is because if they admit that this works, ANYBODY can tell anybody about it and the doc will no longer get his/her cut of the action. This is a perfect example of why the AMA is so interestred in suppressing alternatives!

It constantly amazes me that people will spend a fortune, for something they could get free, just because the "doctor" prescribed it.
There are numerous testimonials on this BB about how simple distilled vinegar works as well as ANY toxic prescription drug and yet-----------------!

Hi, Steven.
ALL of the information about toenail fungus is on the homepage of this 'site as well as on the bb AND in the archives. YOU are going to have to read about it instead of me retyping it all over again.
So far as the ingrown nail is concerned, you are going to have to have minor surgery to remove the ingrown part and hot soapy soaks will get rid of the infection ONCE THE INGROWN NAIL IS OUT OF THE WOUND. It is up to the surgeon to teach you how to keep this from happening again.
By the way, if you are diabetic, you can't use the hot soapy soaks.
Once you have done your homework, if you still have questions, write again.

Dr. Stoll should pay attention to Jonathon's post on March 17 and update his site on Nail fungus. His comment that no prescription anti-fungal will kill the fungus, but just inhibit is false. Lamisil, referred to by Jonathon, is a fungicidal drug meaning it kills the fungus. Sporanox, another prescription anti-fungal is fungistatic meaning it inhibits growth. Lamisil builds up squalene epoxidase which kills the fungus and at the same time it inhibits the production of egosterol which prevents further fungus growth or production. The drug has a remarkable safety profile and has no clinically significant drug interactions. For further info or docmentation of the above, refer to a Lamisil package insert or one of the numerous studies on Terbinafine (Lamisil). If it was so unsafe, a doctor would not prescribe the drug and risk injury to a patient for a simple toenail fungus-too much liability at stake.
In Reply to: Re: Toe nail fungus (AMAZING!) posted by G Stevens on April 07, 1999 at 17:55:23:
Dear G.,
You may be right about the fungicidal nature of a new drug.
HOWEVER, since nail tissue is dead, there is NO WAY to deliver the drug to the fungus in the nail. STILL the only way is to take it till the old nail has grown off the body & been replaced by new healthy nail. Surely you understand the "squalene epoxidase & egosterol" stuff you mention cannot happen in dead tissue. The only place is COULD do that is in the growing part of the new nail----EXACTLY where the distilled vinegar works.
It seems to me there IS a vast difference in the cost between ANY prescription anti-nail fungus product and simple distilled vinegar which works at least as well.
I know what I would choose for myself AND what anyone who has used the vinegar would choose.
Do you REALLY think Lamasil is safer than distilled vinegar?
Your statement about doctors not prescribing stuff that will hurt people is silly. The last statistics I saw in major medical journals reported that more than 35% of ALL illness is now caused by the doctor. One out of nine patients who end up in the intensive care unit of any hospital is put there by medication interactions or misuse by the doctor IN the controlled environment of the hospital.
Hippocrates said: "First do no harm!" What ever happened to that?
Perhaps you are unaware that I practiced 30 years as a Board Certified Family Practitioner. During that time I also taught in a medical school for 3 years. I have seen this from both sides. A BB participant is in the process of typing in my CV right now. Perhaps having the entire CV will help prevent people from thinking I am some fly-by-night.

In Reply to: Re: Toe nail fungus posted by Justin on May 19, 1999 at 13:03:10:
Hi, Justin.
How long you need to use the vinegar is based on how fast your nail grows. More will not work faster.
IF you have many of the susceptibility factors for foot fungus, you MAY have to keep up the vinegar to prevent recurrence. See the chapter in my book about fungus for those factors. Most people do not have to keep up the vinegar even if they DO have these factors. However, you got it once and, if the same factors that allowed it to happen in the first place are still there......

Question?!?!?!?
I have tried Sporanox which didn't work, I have tried soaking my feet in bleach (diluted and straight), and nothing works. Now with this vinegar treatment that has been attested to in these messages what would the risk be of soaking your feet in vinegar for a few minutes every night? I understand that you cannot kill the fungus, but wouldn't soaking rather than two drops give you a certainty that you are getting the new nail growth completely immersed in vinegar, keeping it from being affected by the fungus?

Dr. Stoll: I have had fingernail fungus for about 9 years. I have used Fulvicin, Sporonox, Diflucan & Lamasil. None have worked for me. I bought your book and started your vinegar treatment about 7 weeks ago. I have applied the treatment twice a day as you said, but unfortunately no progress. I am a little discouraged, but I will continue treatment because I have no choice. I was wondering if a diet of some sort would help along with the treatment? I have heard that fungi thrive on sugar and cokes. Is this true?

Hi, Bill.
7 weeks is much too soon for even fast growing nails. This is going to take 3-6 months on the average.
Next, you need to be sure that this IS fungus since the vinegar only works for fungus. Was this diagnosed by looking at it or was a sample taken for the laboratory to examine microscopically and grow a culture?
Psoriatic nails look very much like nails infected by fungus--just to look at. This is the usual way for docs to make this diagnosis. However, when the usual treatments do not work, one would think that the doc would start thinking of different diagnoses.

FIRST, you need a diagnosis. Vinegar will only work for fungus infections of the toenail. A piece of nail, sent to the laboratory is the only sure way of making the diagnosis.
