I have had sciatica pain off and on since Jan 2002. Recently I fell. Didn't seem to hurt myself too bad, till next day. Pain in the calf was a 9 to 10. Then my wife discovered new ropey varicose veins in said calf. Doctors say to wsit s couple more week to see if pain med.helps. (Ibuprofen) Can you tell me more? I would appreciate it.

Hi, Bob & John.
No dangerous connection or otherwise.
Painful varicosities in the calf should be initially treated with ace, ice and elevation. Normally, that will resolve the discomfort and most danger within a few days.
Ibuprophen is not likely to help (other that the pain)whereas taking one aspirin, twice a week, just might help prevent clots which is the only danger.
