Dr. Stoll, I had read archives before but I have been re-reading some of them. I didn't remember the details of your faimily history with varicose veins -but, I re-read that one. You said your father had all his veins stripped before he was 30-what did you mean by ALL his veins?????I was wondering how his situation followed. Also, your mother had hers stripped several times. Asking the same about her situation-how it went after then. Did both live long, healthy lives free of most complications of varicose veins or what? Thanks, I still researching this problem-your help has been most beneficial!!!

Sorry, M.A.
I meant all the superficial veins in his legs. So far as I know those are the only ones amenable to surgery and the only ones that benefit the patient by doing it. He never had another problem with them for the rest of his life (50 years).
My mother's first stripping (entire superficial legs) lasted only a few years while she had several more pregnancies and then she had to have them done again. That lasted her for the rest of her life (about 35+ years).
Hope this helps.
Walt

By all superficial veins do you mean saphenous veins-because you can't remove ALL superficial veins we have or can you? the reason I'm asking is because i'm getting sooo many I wish could be removed but i don't know if it would be possible to get rid of that many.

Yes you can, M.A., but as a practicsl matter only the major ones ARE. The superficial veins renew themselves healthy then they are stripped.
