If I wear support stocking below the knee, will they also help my varicose veins that are above the knee?

I thought if you wear support hose below the knee it would still help the veins about the knee because it's helping push the blood back up to the heart? Or do the veins need to have presure put onto them to stop them from getting worse (coming out)?

Hi, Reader.

This was just archived last month.

Support hose do not prevent varicosities, they just flatten the distended veins so that blood clots tend to form less readily.

Looking,

All support hose do is collapse the superficial veins so the blood has to go to the deep veins. Since the veins are collapsed, the support can help prevent them from getting worse but will not reverse them.
