Hi Dr. Stoll,
I live in Venezuela, so I'm hesitant to go to the doctor. I woke up this morning, the vericose vein I have and have had for 5 years hurt sharply. It get progressively worse with time, and it's ached before, but today I'm having trouble walking on it, and it's painful to the touch. Should I be concerned enough to go to the doctor?
Thank you,
Diana

Hi, Diana.
The 2 most common complications of varicose veins are phlebitis and clot. Both of these can be very serious. You need to use an ace bandage from your below your knee to above your toes & keep your leg elevated above your hips while you are waiting to see the doc.
Let us know what you learn and how you do.
