SHINGLES

My 20 year old son developed shingles last summer..He had a small patch of spots on his abdomen and back, for quite sometime he experienced the pain and discomfort associated with this,,,maybe 6 wks. or so. Anyways, my son is very athletic, eats healthy, sleeps well, does not drink alcohol or do drugs. It seems that ever since developing the shingles, his health has not been great, many colds, and flu type of symptoms this winter and headaches. Now here it is mid-May, and he is still having many "crappy" feeling days. I was wondering if maybe this would still be associated with shingles or maybe be worth making another trip to the doc?

Hi, Concerned.

A trip to the doc is likely to be an exercise in futility unless you have a good holistic doc.

This kind of history tells me that his general health has been slipping for probably years (though not enough to be seen on the surface) and that is why he got the shingles (something that used to be so rare as to be reportable just a few years ago). His shingles has now reset his homeostasis at a less healthy level and it will take a major effort to get it reset at the level it was before.

Serious wellness is what can do that.

Let us know what he learns and how he does.

I am 44 yrs old and I had the shingles about 3 yrs. ago. I was working in a very stressful job and dealing with the owners "bad kids" on a daily basis. Financially, I didn't have to work and I didn't even realize what that job was doing to me. I thought SHINGLES? Why do I have shingles? I'm not stressed. I went to the local MD and he, of course, gave me a prescription of zovirax plus pain pills which I never got filled. I then went to a chiropractor. They started around my waist and ended up internally. I had them for 3 months. I thought I would go crazy with the pain and they really worked on my nerves. I quit my job and started drinking a glass of wine every nite for relaxation and my nerves. I'm not suggesting that your son drink wine, but I promise you that something is worrying him that he is not aware of and I understand that once you have them, you are very likely to get them again. I'm not sure the chiropractor helped me, but he certainly didn't medicate me. I did that myself with the wine. Just kidding. Not trying to make light of the situation because I know how painful they can be. Good luck and I would try to find out what stress my son has in his life that could be eliminated. Listen to Dr. Stoll. Unfortunately, I did not know this site existed when I had the shingles.
