Testimonial on Progress w/3LS

Posted by Eric d'cleric [3011.2003] on April 25, 2006 at 08:39:51:

Just want to give some feedback on my progress utilizing the 3LS
technique...

I finally bit the bullet and managed to rearrange my schedule (very,
VERY difficult) to fit in the 3LS. Not perfect, but close. I have been on
it about 2+ months. It has not helped with my primary medical
condition of LPR, however, it appears to have helped with a bunch of
other, important conditions.

Here goes:

1) Weight is down almost 15 lbs without counting calories. (BMI down
from 32 to 28.5)

2) Blood pressure is much more stable. Still can pop high numbers,
but it has dropped 20 points overall, and 10 points on average to give
me an average of 130/75 WITHOUT BP medications. Yes, I've dropped
my medication. Hopefully it will continue to improve. I've also noticed
that my resting heart rate is down about 5 beats on average.

3) CRP (C-Reactive protein) is down. In December it was 15, now it is
at 5.28. Quite a significant drop. (I am taking Vitamin E, C and Omega
3's per my physician's protocol, but I think the 3LS and weight loss
has helped, too.) The goal is to get it below 3, of course.

Anyway, that is a quick listing of obvious improvements. Make no
mistake, it isn't easy fitting this around a tight schedule, but it
appears to be beginning to pay back significant dividends.

Eric,

Just think where you will be in two years. Good news.

I'll be a healthy wreck! LOL

Okay, that's a joke, with a bit of truth. Meaning my schedule is so
tight that if I'm running late at work I have to forgoe either the SR or
exercise for the day. I'm not putting it down, just expressing that it
takes significant sacrifice IN MY CASE. Weekends are easier, but
weekdays are tight. Others may find it easier, and it is worth the
effort.

Hopefully, six months in, I'll be able to liberalize the diet, which will
take some of the pressure off timewise, but I still have to rush home,
exercise, clean up, meditate and then cook dinner all before 7:30*
(and I usually get home between 5:45 and 6:15). So I have the paradox
of having to rush to do SR! That's why I "cheat" by using a binaural
beat technology CD.

Definitely a change in lifestyle for me (when I first came to this board
maybe a year ago I thought it would be impossible to arrange my
schedule to do this, but I finally just made up my mind to do it). It is a
mixed bag at this point. Great progress, rough sacrifice.

*Because of a GERD-related condition, I must eat no closer than 3
hours to bedtime, and SR is ineffective if too close to bedtime - I'm
really trucking every evening, LOL. My preferred bedtime is 10:00!
Sigh.

What cd do you use for your meditation? I've been trying to find a good one, tried many, but never seem to get much benefit from them. Could you explain how the cd you use works??? Thanks.

That would be mostly science, mostly biology/physics and a little bit
of surprise.

Very briefly, when two sound sin waves of different frequencies meet,
a physical phenomina called interference occurs. It can be
constructive or destructive. The net effect is that a third wave forms
that is the difference between them (over simplifying). So if a wave of
1,000 hz (cycles per second) meets a wave of 1,100 hz, you'll still
hear the original waves along with another "frequency" that is the
difference, or a "beat" of 100 hz. You can try this with tuning forks or
with a piano and see. This is a physical phenomina.

Curiously it has been discovered that this happens without a physical
interaction in the brain if you play one frequency in one ear and the
second one in the other. Mysteriously, the two hemispheres of the
brain act like a physical medium and the brainwaves produce
(oversimplification) the same beat by sort of following it.

Binaural beat technology (or hemisynch... for synchronizing
hemispheres) makes use of this by feeding in frequencies that differ
by the brain wave pattern they seek to induce. Curiously it works
because the frequencies are below the range of hearing. Using a
masking sound (like waves) the two different sin waves are fed into
each ear separately (MUST use headphones or it doesn't work IN the
brain, and the beat is, as I said, below the range of hearing), to
produce the desired brain wave state with concurrent change in
consciousness. So for alpha it might be 1,000 hz in one ear and 1,014
in the other for example.

That's it in a nutshell.

Eric,

I am scared of doing CDs that do something to your brainwaves. I read in the archives that they can cause problems - siezures in fact!

I do not use them but actually want to.

Tell me about them please!

I don't no nuthin' about no seizures. Meaning I can't speak for that,
perhaps tiny, portion of people who this might happen (never even
heard about it mentioned anywhere except on this board) too. I
suppose it is like that tiny portion that react to flashing lights.

But really, all the binaural beat technology does is help YOU to
achieve a particular brainwave pattern. Your brain wants to combine
the two frequencies and when it does so, it also generates the
brainwave that is the difference. But you can overcome it totally by
not paying attention to the CD. For it to work, you just relax and let
the sounds flow over you.

The CD I recommend (and others from Mark, whom I know personally
and who was on the frontier when this technology emerged -
working for the Monroe Institute) isn't like others. His are designed to
help people learn to meditate and relax only... and to explore these
states of consciousness. Some other companies put out binaural CD's
with an agenda - to implant unconscious programs, those I would be
wary of. That is why I recommend the Tranquility Training Method
CD's.

So, no agenda except learning how to meditate or seeing what it feels
like. Anyway, time for me to go do my SR... I wouldn't be concerned
with the TTM CD's.

Thanks, Eric, and congratulations.

Of course, your primary problem will be the last one to resolve. This is one of the rules of healing. If we did not get that in our new book it was an oversight!

Keep on keeping on and it, too, will start to resolve. Your current experience is proof that you are finally on the right track!

Eric,

You will be amazed at how much easier this will be to do as time goes on. Of course, by the time it becomes second nature you will no longer have to be nearly as strict with it.

might not be "kosher" - but thank you for you brief and encouraging
response.

This technology will only enable you to achieve the brainwave states
if you want it to. As I already said, unless you follow the sound and
let it flow over you, nothing will happen.

I wanted to say that you can listen to it WITHOUT headphones (and,
therefore NOT be affected AT ALL) to hear what is on the CD first of
all and see if the "message" is one that you want. That way you would
have no fear of it.

But those people who have had "unusual" or "uncomfortable"
reactions generally are folks who are afraid of letting go or, having
never encountered what meditation (or even true relaxation) feels
like, become frightened of the sensations that are associated with
these states because they are unknown to them. Imagine, if you
would, suddenly feeling a gentle warm feeling flowing throughout
your body - WHOA, what is THAT all about, you might think when it
is simply relaxation.

So I would guess with the rare case of being sensitive to alpha wave
patterns (which I think has been documented visually), really nothing
to worry about, in my OPINION.
