A local "hotshot" chiropractor says that humans cannot absorb elemental iron; that it first has to be converted to an absorbable form by plants, which we then ingest.... And that is why we do not eat nails. Plants, of course, can handle them just fine, which is why plants needing more iron benefit from a nail or two buried nearby.

Yet a plethora of articles online state that cooking with cast iron is good for those with anemia.

Who is right?
