Have had nodule removed from left cheek by surgeon and it was melanoma....one week previous to this surgery, a dermatologist removed a melanoma from the lower left arm....one week later went back in and cut some more.

cancer specialist says it probably spread from the arm and not the check. 12 years ago in the exact same area on the left cheek a melanoma was removed.

Am 71 years of age and have been in reasonably good health. Have on occasion had back pain but have now excruiciating pain constantly in this left hip, back and leg...even in the shoulder.

Had pet scan and it showed two spots...one at top of chest bone near the thyroid and one on the base of the spine.

Am now being sent for thyroid scan and MRI to determine what is going on in these two areas. I am discouraged that the pet scan did not show what I had been told they would and I am now having to go for more tests.

The cancer doctor said she would this week-end do some checking in major cities where there would be clinical trials going on, or she could do chemo locally.

Cancer doctor is agreeable to alternative help also but I cannot seem to get there because everytime I have an appointment, they want something else scanned here.

I am a distance away from any of this, living in a very rural area.

Thanks

Ivan
